Karen - glad to hear your SR has progressed to Phase 3 physical therapy. My sailor said that when he got to that point, he realized that the light at the end of tunnel was getting brighter and it was NOT an oncoming train. Told him that the light was the reflection of our smiles of pride at his perseverence. Prayers are being sand (and answered) for ALL of our SRs in RCU. It's not a fun place to be but they can continue to press forward!

Hi Tobianne. My son has been in RCU for almost four weeks for a leg fracture, then he got pnuemonia! It is hard on them at first. My son wanted to come home, begged me to get him out! He is doing okay now. He called Sunday and I got two lettters yesterday. He said he has adjusted. The moral can be low. I know there must be a lot of frustration and disappointment. My son's PIR date was to be tomorrow, so I am hoping he is doing okay over this. She needs tons and tons of encouragement and some firm advice that this too shall pass. It is important that she sees the big picture. My son told me Sunday he was picked as Master of Arms and he is trying to help other recuits with their moral. So, turning a potentially negative and depressing situation into something more productive can be beneficial. I know (as all of us on in this group know) how hard it is as a parent. But, she will be okay. Going through her adjustment period now. Just send her lots and lots of mail! My son is expecting to be back into a division by September 2nd. There is light at the end of the tunnel and you can't stop time!

We just got her address, she is going stir crazy and wants out, she wants to get her PFA and BS done and go on. She said mom I am wasting good learning time here. lol (she hated school) I need to be in TX like last week.
She will get there and she will be that much stronger.
I am glad to hear he is wanting to get back to BC. She has said many do not even care and they bring the moral down.

Hi Tobianne, Glad you found us. Welcome!!! My son hated it at ship 6 when he first got there. His first letter home to both me and to his girlfriend said how much he wanted to come home and how he didn't think he could stay there in ship 6. Just this past week has he started to sound better and talk about recovering and getting back to a division so he can graduate. I just keep writing encouraging stuff to him and telling him to stick with it. I write practically every day to him.

Hello all, Karen told me about this group. My daughter is also in ship 6. She had surgery for some cysts that showed up and caused her to be ill while trying to finish her final PFA.
She is having a hard time as some of the moral there is not to good. Did any of your recruits say anything like this?

JDs~Angel, my son just told me tonight that he's just started to recieve his mail. He's been there 3 weeks now. I'm sorry your SR is still sick. I hope he starts to make progress in his recovery soon! I'm praying for healing for all our recruits, so that they may continue with their journeys in the US Navy!

Chris called me again tonight. He still sounds in good spirits! :) He was just calling to say Hi, and let me know he was ok. He says he's in phase 3 of physical therapy. He thinks he'll be in RCU for another week to week and a half. Then will join a new division to finish bootcamp. Will graduate some time in Oct.

JDs Angel, my sailor didn't get all of our mail while he was in RCU and we never got all of his letters while he was in BC or RCU. Recruits do the mail pickup and mail call, soooo, he said it could have been a lazy recruit who just didn't want to deal with it. Or like mail at home, sometimes things get lost. Hopefully it will all turn up eventually. i don't think my sailors mail ever fully caught up with him and we've not received any back at home.

Sounds like your recruit is exactly where mine was in training. Sounds like he's determined to finish and that says a lot about his character. Mine finished the same requirements from RCU. Down side: No PIR, Up Side: he's a sailor!!!

Unfortunately, my SR is still sick. He went to the VA hospital on Sunday but he's back at RTC now. I ended up getting a call from him on Sunday and again yesterday for an HOUR! He didn't want to talk about boot camp or his sickness, just about happy stuff. It was the most normal conversation we've had in soooooooooooooooooooooo long that it really did my heart so good. Yesterday I got a text message from him sent from his email to my cell phone. I was really surprised that he actually got online. I haven't checked Facebook since he did, but that's not a big deal. :) lol! I know he's still waiting for permission to move into phase 3 physical therapy, which means he would be able to train out of RCU (he has test 3, firefighting, and BS21 to do as a requirement, and maybe a PFA? I'm not sure).

What bothers me the most is that he's only gotten half of my letters. I just sent envelope 23 on Monday and he's only up to 10. :( *sniff*
