Hi Cheryl ~ just enjoy your precious time with your son and don't worry about us. We'll wait for the glorious details until you have time and you're back at home. Great that he'll be closer to you with his new orders.

Enjoy Cali and most especially your son!!

Hey Wendy, I'm really glad that Jim is doing well (and the other driver)! Thank God for his blessings and that your son is doing ok besides the strep. I'm sure you must feel very relieved to know this.

Debbie ~ No, I haven't been on a Tiger Cruise yet either but I'm looking forward to one and my daughter has already promised to "send for me" when she returns home!! It nice to have children with good jobs! Thank Lord & Uncle Sam.

Hi all ~

Hey Deborah, how's it going with you? I'm so glad you're here now!

Jon & Lauren, I've missed both your conversations and your presences. Sandra & Debbie, I'm in the same boat as you're in (no pun intended)!

My daughter is out on deployment and we did speak with her yesterday. She sounds strong and is enjoying her first real view of the other parts of the world and different cultures. Her observations about the comparision was so indepth and intelligent I thought she had written a college essay on the topic. Said all that to say this, their time with the Navy has a way of broaden their minds like nothing else. How wonderful for them...and us too.

Wendy & Deborah have you guys been on a tiger cruise? Would you go on one? Hope at some point we all get to either go on a Tiger cruise, attend a Homecoming celebration and just get to be with our Sailors again soon!!

Everyone make a great weekend!! Blessings to all, Sherry

Good Morning All ~

Thanks Debbie for your vote of confidence. Maybe it's easier if I think of it one baby step at a time. Honestly though, it seems intimidating when I think about my future. Hmm...

Love the perspective that we are along for the ride with our Sailors and what a great experience we'll have!! That is a true blessing indeed.

Deborah, that's wonderful that your son has set his goals and plans to become an officer. The Navy has wonderful programs for just this purpose. Is he familiar with the BCDP (Baccalauerate degree completion Program)? If not, have him ask about it.

Wow, Debbie and Kelly, you two have definitely found what works for you! That is good to know that if you guys did it, then maybe I can to. This is just another stage of our lives and as Debbie said, just try to make the best of each day that the good Lord has blessed us with to enjoy.

Deborah S ~ Sounds like your son may be thinking of making a career of it. He, like all of our sailors, will be in my prayers.

Everyone have a peaceful evening and hope to chat again soon.

Hi all~
I'm a single mom whose youngest child is headed off to college this summer. His college is way out of state and my Sailor daughter lives way out of state. So I guess very soon I will officially be an emptynester. On the one hand I'm looking forward to it and on the other I'm abit concerned (sounds better than saying I'm scared!) How are some of you all coping with it?

Hi Debbie ~ welcome to our cozy little group. The folks are friendly and none of them bit...at least not any that I know of. haha

Good Morning all ~

Hi Sandra ~ I have not been on a Tiger Cruise yet but you may want to check the Forum Discussions tab to get more info on those Tiger Cruise. I hear they are wonderful and I'm looking forward to doing one in the future. Please let us know what you find out!

Welcome Lora ~ you'll love this group of fun loving, supportive Navy parents! Seems like you and I have much in common...single parents of Annapolis Mids/Graduates. My daughter graduated last year and is currently on deployment. What year is your son in at the academy?

Other news I got a phone call from my Sailor daughter on Sunday evening and she sounded well! She has been out to sea for a few weeks now, so it was nice to hear her voice and know she's safe though so far away. Anyone else have a Sailor on deployment now? Or just returning or about to go out on deployment?

Barbara, There should be a web site in your state you can check on any child support laws. I know that once it is awarded you can still get while the child is going to college, I believe that once entering the military the support is over (unless it is back pay/ which you'll get till paid off) once entering the military they are grown and have their own support.......I hope this helps if I'm not clear you can message me ...I'm in the middle of child support...chase down

Hi all,

Need some help. Anyone familiar with how joining the military or accepting an academy appointment "Might" affect any emancipation issues or child support agreements?
