Happy Safe New Year to all! So happy for those of you that got to spend christmas with your sailor. Each time I read one of your comments expressing your happiness and excitement happy tears welled in my eyes and a smile to my face. Thanks for sharing!
Hello Tina, Happy New Year to you, and all the sub moms & dads out there.
hello all!!
glad to hear everyone who had their sons or daughters home for Christmas really enjoyed the time!! it is hard to see them go. till next "home port" we all will keep praying and encouraging them and their families!! GO N4Ms!!!
Linda, your son will have another sailor( called a sea daddy) to help him along the way before he gets to his first patrol. Kinda like a mentor. If he gets a good one it makes all the difference in the transition to sea life. Ask him about it next time you talk. My sons was pretty good. We went out yo dinner with him and he answered alot of our questions about what to expect on the Sub, and whats expected of the new sailor, or NUB..( that means Non-useful body) thats what they call the other Sailors until they get there Dolphins. You gotta love men. Always gotta tease...Anyway glad your close to him..we had that opportunity when my guy was in Connecticut for 18 months. No More though.
My son had Christmas dinner served on the submarine in Hawaii. He went to holiday parties aplenty it seems. He took a week of leave during that time. After living there a month he has bought brand new bedroom furniture and got all his stuff delivered that he moved to Hawaii. He also bought himself a Mercedes Benz on the island and says it drives great. Pretty squared away he has been in Hawaii just over a month including some time spent out on patrol.
985cat and LindaGirl I am right there with you both. Something about those farewells at the airport. One second everything is fine and without any warning here come the tears! All those mommy emotions coming bubbling up and spilling over...oh my goodness...lol. And then everyone is all oh mom is crying and then my son's do their smile and little laugh and say something sweet to make me feel better. By the way I got to do this two days in a row this time. My Marine left on 11/27 and my Sailor left on 11/28. Needless to say I was exhausted! But I wouldn't change a thing I am so happy my boys are out there with their awesome jobs and going on adventures and seeing the world! I know you'll be okay LindaGirl just hang in there and post when you need to someone is always around to give you that little lift to get you through :-D
