Hi All....I haven't been to Navy for Moms since my son's graduation in Great Lakes.  It was such a great experience to be in contact with other families going through the same thing, that I decided to see if there was a group for his ship and found you!  My son graduated last September then went to A school in GL until June and then was sent to Mayport.  He just finished up his second school in Mayport and is waiting for his ship, the DeWert to come back home.  I'm very fortunate that we live in the Tampa area so have been able to see him a few times.  I've only been a Navy mom for a little over a year but I found out quickly that things change often, so being a part of a group like this is really helpful.  So, just wanted to say hi & I'm glad I found you!   Candy

Debbie, I hope you have been able to see your son. We aren't going to make it to any of the ports but did get to spend 3 weeks with him at the end of June, which was such a blessing. I love all the pics that they are posting on the ship's fb page. I have seen my son several times that way.

I did talk to my son and he did say storage units were just outside of the base and you lose your room when deploed for three mints or longer...so they should be good till at least next year unless something changes....and changes do happen often!!!

I am so looking forward to the Great Lakes tour.....I am going to go see my son at a couple ports!!!!! His grandparents are also excited....

Thank You Debbie! I think he found a storage facility to store his things in when needed.

I think my son is going to store his extra stuff in his car I will try and find out for sure or there are places to rent a storage locker. I am not sure if it is on or off base. I haven't talk to my son in a few days but will ask. I don't think they leave for a few more weeks I also think they have to be gone for about 3months before they loose their rooms which again I am not positive about that either. Will try to find out for you. Welcome to the group!!!

oh well we live in Arkansas and it is so far. His sponsor is in AA meetings so is not available for him to contact with questions and I can't seem to get any info on the ombudsman. We are both clueless as to what to do.

My husband left Saturday morning for the tiger cruise. He didn't want to take a chance for any flight delays!! He was able to be with him yesterday and today. A much needed father/son time. I hope the rain stops soon. It has been raining for two days in Fort Lauderdale. They will be together for a week...my husband is staying over a few days in Jacksonvillevas well. It will be an amazing adventure for all who participate...

I hope that all the sons and fathers and brothers and nephews and grandads or friends have fun on the Tiger Cruise coming up!
