Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

Speaking of B-days I need to get something ready to go. Who knows how long it is gonna take to get there. Better early than late.

Thanks all....Yeah, if there is some sort of inspection, I'd imagine that they are busier than usual. Navy Ma.....I can't imagine how busy the culinary staff is at all times. I bet they have almost NO downtime. That's a lot of hungry sailors to feed. I didn't think that they had access to facebook while they were out. I know Kelcie has me go on hers from time to time and post an update for her.
Terre, with the kids in the same department, and neither of us hearing anything, maybe they are keeping the security staff "hopping". I know that when she is in dispatch, she has more computer access than when she is on other duties.
Lisa....Kelcie says that the chow lines are the worst. I think she depends on the care packages to see her through when she doesn't have time to stand in line also.

I have not heard anything in a few days.

Is anybody else out there noticing a drop in e-mail contact the last couple of days?
I usually get an email every day, but haven't for the last couple of days. Either they are keeping her really busy, or email service has been shut off for a bit. Just checking.

Kelley's Aunt, as far as I know you have to have a Facebook account to access the different things on it. It is easy to get an account. You can set privacy settings to friends only and limit who becomes your friend. Once you are a member, you can access the GW site and see pictures, almost daily. That's lots of fun, especially if your sailor is in one. My g'daughter was featured in one and it was fun to see her doing her job. You can also become a friend of GW Ombudsman and there is sometimes useful information posted. In addition, you can get on the Ombudsman's e-mail distribution list. I haven't received anything yet so I have no idea of whether that is useful. When requesting to be put on the distribution list, I gave my g'daughter's name with rate and also specified her unit.

Thanks everyone for the information and for your support.

Since we have not had contact with Kelley since she left Japan, we don't know what her job is yet. Once we hear from her and find that out we will feel much better . We understand how busy it must be and don't expect to hear from her often, just anxious to get that first call and find out what she is doing and her address.
Someone suggested to contact the Obudsman. Can someone tell me how to I go about doing that?

Also someone mentioned Facebook had a link on this page but I didn't see it. I dont' use Facebook so I don't know if you need to be a member. Any tips on that?

Thanks again for your support !!!!!!!

Oh ladies, I have to admit, I'm so grateful that Kelcie isn't on the flight deck. She has friends that are, and it can indeed be SO dangerous, but they seem to have a very good overall safety record. Kelcie has gotten both of the boxes that I have mailed to her while they were out to sea in less than 10 days each.
I guess Kelcie must be lucky, she has always worked in her "rate" and hasn't ever had to be TAD anywhere else. That would be REALLY hard, trying to advance in your rate when you never get to actually work in it!!

Jenny, I would not give SSN or DOB either. I would rather send the money for a Ship to Shore card. My brother, retired Navy, will be in Maine in early July. I will see if he can get a card or two for me.

Jenny, I got the same email. Like you, I chose not to respond. I didn't like all of the info they were requesting either. I figured I could live without an "update" rather than disclose that info.
