Good Evening all...First of all Thomas's mom...my heart is breaking for both you and him. When our children hurt, we hurt. And it doesn't help at all that we are to far away to offer the comfort we want to. It makes me so SAD to know that a sailor who truly cares is not being given the respect he deserves.
Momof2...Your son might know Kelcie. She is small (5'3"), freckle faced and onery! She grew up in a neighborhood full of boys, with all of her big brothers friends tormenting her constantly. So she learned at a young age to "hold her own". She is kind of a tomboy, and won't sit idly by while crap is going on if there is anything she can do to stop it. I guess her section has 3 new MA'S (gotta be 1's or 2's) as she is a 3 that she is about ready to lose it with. Guess they are trying to treat the people under them like they are in boot camp. She has been in for 3 years now, and doesn't have the patience for it. She does exercise and work out most evenings after work, and would probably gladly drag your sailor along :>)

Sandra, They do give the sailors a list. I was chatting with my g'daughter when she got hers and she read it off to me. Of course, I immediately forgot it all. She was supposed to put the toiletries in an e-mail but ... Oh, well. There is the NEX ashore and in general I understand that it has most of what they need. At sea things are more limited and they run out.

We lived in Europe when I was in high school and the Exchange was always running out of things we wanted/needed. I remember one time giving a sympathy card in lieu of a birthday card. While that might be okay for someone turning 30 or more, it's kind of silly for someone turning 17! But we all understood.

Also, sometimes there are brands that are not carried by the NEX. Those are the things that make you feel less homesick.

Mom of 2 Sailors, I understand not wanting to create additional problems for your son. In that case, I would suggest the wipes that Cottonelle makes since they aren't baby wipes. There are other brands but I can't think of the names right now.

DC,
I just don't want to take a chance on my son having anymore issues than what he has already had. And yes they are all in this together but there are a few bad eggs that are out for themselves. Hence the stealing that has happened.

I do not believe that aerosol sprays can be sent but pump sprays are okay. My granddaughter asked for antifungal cream/spray. It had been recommended but she could not find any at the NEX. The Heads at Ease group often gets requests for baby wipes from both males and females. I think they don't care about being kidded at this point. Besides they are all in this together.

Thank You. I will look for them. I have to go pick up a Xbox game I pre-ordered for him that just came out today. So I will go look for the wipes.

Do you have the names of ones that are adult scented? I only have experience with the baby wipes.
Comment by momof2sailors on May 25, 2010 at 12:16pm
Can we send sprays? Any suggestions on what kind of baby wipes? I personally love the Huggie wipes. But I would not want people to make fun of him with all the pictures on them.
