For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

My Navy mom friends and I got together yesterday and started sewing pillowcases for the ship. We sew 160 pillowcases. There were 6 of us sewing and 2 ironing.
it took us 5 hours, that doesn't count for the time we stopped to eat and snack.
My husband said judging by all the laughing we were having a good time.

What I have found strange is our first deployment wasn't the hardest. It was the third deployment that was the hardest for us.
I know just by keeping busy and trying to help others has help me make it through. I do alot of volunteer work besides working full time. I tend to sew more for the veterans hospital when he is gone, it helps me work through what I am feeling.
One of the things lots of families do during deployments is take two jars or vases. Count out how many days they will be gone and fill one of vases with that number of marbles or small stones. As each day passes move one stone or marble to the other vase. Its a great thing to do when you have other children at home, it give them a sense of being involved and a visual aid in know how long before their loved one returns.

Dee....Just got done cutting the fabric you sent and I was able to get 8 pillowcases out of it all. Thanks for much! I think you son will be surprised with what I am doing with his.

My accountant is a die hard Stealers fan. I took some scrapes of Green Bay Packer fabric (from the pillowcases that I am making) that I had and made little Green Bay flag and hung them through out his office. TG that he is a good sport and just laughed when he saw all the flags.

Dee...I am busy washing material! My husband say he can always tell when I get new fabric I stash myself in my sewing room and I sing with the music:)
