Awesome photos!  Wish I could have gone.  My son told me about it the day after.  We had a great tour of the ship in August.  I took lots of pics but my son asked me not to post.

Some of you may be aware and some may not that I have undertaken a project to provide pillowcases to the crew on board the Green Bay.

My goal is to provide 450 handmade pillowcases to the crew while they are out on deployment. Pillowcases are known for that touch of home with love and support that they can carry with them on ship.

My plan is to have these pillowcases completed and delivered to me by April 1st.

This is where you can become involved in our quest to make this project a big success and show support to our loved ones.

If your Green Bay crewmember has a favorite professional sport or college team, or a favorite character, and you would like them to have a special pillowcase, you could either:

· Make the pillowcase and send it out to us for delivery to the ship (please contact me for dimension). If you are shipping a finished pillowcase to us, please place the pillowcase(s) in a zip lock bag and clearly write the name, rank and division of the crewmember on the outside of the bag, along with placing it on a piece of paper inside the bag, this will help with the distribution once they reach the ship.

· Purchase a plain pillowcase and decorate it with fabric paint or embellishments and mail it to us for shipment

· Purchase the fabric, and send it out to us too be made up (please contact me for yardage requirements)

· Donate money and/or gift cards to be used for purchase of fabric or payment of shipping

Also, if you, your family and friends would like to be involved in this project, it is easy. Just get a group together and make pillowcases to donate. Personally, I have a group of girlfriends that have children servicing in one branch of the service or another. We pick a day to get together, bring a potluck dish and have a great time sewing and visiting. This is also a great service project for those Boy and Girl Scouts Troops and church groups! It’s a great way to show our service members our support for their dedication to our country.

If you would like to volunteer on this project or more information, please contact me at either:

· milcopmom@comcast.net

· On Navy4Moms on the Green Bay page http://www.navyformoms.com/group/ussgreenbay

Also if you know of families that are not on Facebook or Navyfor moms, please share this message with them.

I look forward to hearing from all of you.

Far winds and following seas.
