@Lala - We're planning to celebrate Christmas once we move after his PIR. So I'm not even shopping for christmas this season. I guess I'll get to hit the after Christmas sales. lol :)
Kim 756....I like your thinking. Feb 3 is Christmas for us!
AmyD...I was hoping you would get a letter. Hang in there! It will come.
I know what you mean navymom88, I had two people order Navy Themed stockings today and etched glass anchor ornaments and I sent them a message and said you know the chance of this getting there before Christmas is not very good and they bot said they would be celebrating Christmas late with their Sailors so it will arrive in plenty of time. There must be a lot of that happening to a lot of families.
Morning/Afternoon. Hope everyone is doing well. <3
Yep, I agree with FTLW. They hang out at the USO where they are well taken care of...until time to go to the gate. Remember, you meet them there at the USO (or in front of security if at Midway, as FTLW said)...and they get a gate pass for you from airlines (you have to be there with them with your ID). Then you get extra time at the gate with them. Besides having the phone card, other family members already there are wonderful in lending the sailors their cellphones to call you. Don't worry...you will get there!
Off to pick up my sailor at the airport. Have a good day, all!
Most arrive at the airport around 1-2 AM. Mine went to Midway at 1 AM. I met him at the airport at that time because his flight was at 5:45 AM. (They may not have flight info until PIR day...if before then YAY!)
BUT if your recruit leaves later in the day and you don't want to get there at o' dark-thirty...arrange a time with them and make sure they have a working phone card to call you. I believe they have them wait at the USO so you may be able to have them paged. I had mine write down his flight info on a 3x5 card for me.
The USO at Midway is past security...so you will definitely have to arrrange something. At O'Hare it is BEFORE security.
Kim756 you got that right!! Christmas has been moved to February 3rd!!
