@Angelwetz- Yes there is an Olive Garden nearby. The address is 5590 Northridge Dr Gurnee, IL 60031. It looks like it is about 8.5 miles from base.

Angelwetz you had me cracking up!  i've been fretting about winter clothes because that kind of cold is ungodly   lol but i havent broken down and bought a  coat yet.  i dont even know  if i will be  able to find one

800 division is last to enter and line up on the end, which is the farthest to the right of the room. The families sit in the first set of bleachers when you enter.

Diannepp...where does a Florida girl get nice warm rubber soled boots?

Comment by djmama(02/911) on January 21, 2012 at 12:01am

Woohoo! 2 letters today and a questionairre returned! Received several nicknames of guys in his division(911)..and finally his bunkmate. SA is doing well individually and the only thing he says is he is homesick. Other then that, all seems to be well and coming together. I believe he enjoyed filling out the questionairre, so kudo's to whomever created this particular one. HAHA!  So funny..I have always made fun of my m-in-law who lives with us about racing to the entry hall when the mail drops, but that is ME now! Get outta my way! LOL!!  We are staying at Springhill Suites. Going to Sarge's M & G. Looks like it is just across the road, but being in the big city, probably have to take the shuttle. You all are being very wise about dressing warm..in layers. We are going to need every one of those layers. Sounds like everyone is getting ready. Camo-mom..we will all see you coming and know exactly who you are!! Can't wait to put a real human with the photo on the N4M site...So blessed to have this forumn to share and tear...

Oops...sorry LaLa...I forgot to read all the posts! Well...I hope the pics help out some!

Comment by FireTeamLeaderWife aka FTLW on January 20, 2012 at 11:11pm

Okay...the pic above is right in front of the big garage door that opens to let your Sailors in. If you're sitting in the stands the doors are to the left of you. See the curve? They'll come in in order of their Divisions and march all the way to the other end and make a U-ee and march back and then line up in formation by division...so 053 will be the first closest to the door they came in and then on down the line. The 900 Div is in the middle I believe (they come in after...a space is left for them) I am afraid I don't know where the 800 Div are...maybe sjtina knows?

When you first come into the Hall you will see Sailors on the floor standing next to DIvision markers. This is where your Division will be standing for PIR. You should sit in the stands in fornt of the marker. The markers are positioned so that when you sit in the stands your Division is a little bit to the right of you.

I just bought snow boots! Bass Pro Shop or Outdoor World, same place, has them for 30.00 on sale. They are not the cutest boots but they sure are warm. I also got my under garments. I had to try it all on to make sure my black jeans would fit over everything, and they do --- but I was so hot! I am no longer worried about being cold! So my outfit for PIR is black jeans, snow boots and a dress shirt. Then there is the outer wear... I am going to be hot in all that hahaha
