For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

I think we're going to do the Lou Malnati's in Gurnee!

Also, how far of a walk is it into the building at PIR from where a shuttle drops you off or where you park? I just got a pair of gorgeous boots, but they have some decent heels on them lol. I wear heeled boots all the time, so I'm used to them, but I don't want to trek a half mile in them haha.

Comment by AngelW (Ship 07 Div 060) on January 19, 2012 at 5:13pm: Regarding the laptops at the airport - my SR told me they get into some sort of issue if they have a laptop, but that the cell phone and charger are fine. he told me to just ship the other electronics once he is in A school.

I can't wait to meet all of you. What time should we plan to meet in the lobby at Springhill Suites? 4:30 or so...

hk1853 Which location of Lou Malnati's are you going to?

I think we all need to get the metro information down so we don't get stuck anywhere!

It has FOUR pizza places...the first three are at the top and Malnatis is near the bottom. We ate at the Silo and Giordanos. Silo was more like thick crust to me (but good) and Giordanos was FILLED with sheese rather than deep dish...was very good. I have had UNO from grocery store here where I live and love it...it is one of the older deep dish restaurants as well as Malnati's.

winterrosebud, Oh that's awesome to know, thanks! I know that he loves Seattle, as I did take him there a few years ago. I actually love Seattle too, so I do plan on getting there while he is there.
