Ruth: So glad her letters made you laugh. The tweezer story is too funny!
Fire Team-Thanks for the questionaires. We got them back and cracked up laughing. And yes, very cool. I already wrote her about it.
ALL-Just got finished reading my letters. She sent me 2 and the questionnaires I sent. I spent most of my time laughing. She has passed all of her tests got 4.6 on the last one and is in the top 10 in her division which she wanted to let her teacher mother know. The only time she has cried was when she got back from watch and everyone had made phone calls and she didn’t. She is really excited because the chief said whatever girls pass their next PT test can have tweezers! LOL! And if he is lying she will be really upset because she already passed it the first time. She said they eat way too much and she has gained weight. She also said that who ever thought putting 90 girls in one living space has a sick sense of humor. She was surprised by the lack of working out and misses real underwear.
I know it's hard ladies...we're not the same thing as your recruits but we're here for you!
...here I'll be Rogue today and absorb those "blues" from you!
Awwwww....Ruuu-uuuth! How cool!
My heart is smiling. Letters in the mail today! (okay, ONE for us to read and the other 2 are letters that others that have written that I am saving for him). He said time is going by fairly fast lately. He got 16 letters on 11/21. "it's the letters that make it go by so quick." E2 now HOORAY, has a 4.0 (now why didn't he do that in hs?!), 84 push-ups in 1:20 and 100+ sit ups around a minute. LOVES THE CONDITIONING! Said he will be calling within the week. HE BETTER HURRY. According to my count he only has 2 days left to call w/in the week. 8-) lol
Batmansmom531 i feel your pain, got a letter today and he sounds down again, I think the holiday just brought out more of what he was feeling anyway, I know he needs a hug. And not being able to call just adds to the anxiety for him, wish I could make it easier for him. Will keep praying for them all. and watching the graduation countdown.
Happy Post-Thanksgiving everyone.....yesterday was a bit too emotional for me to write. I was up at 7:00 cooking and finally went to be at 3am this morning. I sat in my sons room in his chair and prayed that his spirits were not too low, as this is the first thanksgiving that he is away from his family. He was always such a big helper around the house with keeping the lil ones busy, putting up the tree, cleaning up and those random big bear hugs (that's what I miss the most) PIR is on 12/29 and I am praying that the days flow like the river of my tears...I pray that everyone's sons/daughters are doing well.
Enjoying my time here in Williamsburg VA with my sailor son. Did a very non-traditional Thanksgiving dinner at Ruby Tuesdays last night but what a great salad bar! Missed my other son/extended family at their celebration in S. FL but happy to be with my sailor since he has missed the past 2 Thanksgivings due to NAVY. One of his buddies is joining us today since he is a history buff and will guide us through the great historical places in this area. FUN! Have a great day, all!
Thanksgiving day was definitely different than any other. I am looking at it as a faith-builder. I am trusting my SR had a nice dinner and a little free time to relax, iron, or shine boots. I will wait patiently for the mail carrier and praying for a phone call sometime this weekend. HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY ALL AND AN EVEN BETTER WEEKEND!
@ RuthL - what a sweet, sweet story. Your SR will be as touched when you are able to share it with her.
@ Presleysmom - How exciting for you and yours! The feeling you get when you hear your SR's voice for the first time after being in GL is something I know I will never forget.
