Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

If it is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. Comment by RuthL on November 20, 2011 at 8:34pm: Thanks diannep. I feel so much better now. She is a jock at heart, has done 4-H since she was 9, worked on a farm at 15, and at a Vet clinic form 16. Work doesnt bother her. I just worry about everything. how did you son make out? He has been on my mind all day.

And just for info, Ramada has their own shuttle to PIR...leaves a bit later than the shuttle service that many of the hotels use. But it's free; the other shuttle service is $3/pp each way. Sailor usually returns with you on shuttle for free.

Comment by RuthL on November 20, 2011 at 7:19pm: Here is how my week is going. Everyone gets a call but me on Thursday, so I am thinking the worst for days. (She is in trouble, she failed a test, she is sick.....) Then today rolls around. My phone never rings, which isnt normal, but I think "what a peaceful day" NO! Our house phone has been out all day. Stupid tree over the lines. I get horrible cell service here, but just got a call form the boyfriend. Long story short my SR couldn't get through so she called him. He said the connection was horrible, but he did make out that she had duty and missed the last calls, Loves it there, is doing really well, and will get another call in the near future. So happy that someone heard form her though. the call only lasted 4 minutes, soit might have been a good thing she didn't get me.

Comment by Michelle02 on November 20, 2011 at 2:44pm: My dad lives in HayesvilleNC not far from you, he just sent me the article that the boys were found safe. From what I read they paid attention to their troop leader they knew how to make it through the night by themselves. My dad does this rescue to and I worry about him he isn't as young as your son. Glad all the prayers were answered.
