diannep: thanks so much for the info! I will to see if I hear this afternoon before I call them. I supposed there is still a chance she went through BS last night.
Kahli's mom, thanks for the info on San Antonio flights, my daughter is heading there as well. Interesting about the August date, since I thought the MA school there was only about 8 weeks, at least that is what my SR relayed. Your daughter might be in another job.
Congrats to all of you and have a great time in Great Lakes. Hope to meet some of you.
One more day, bom chicka bom bom!
La La - Thank you for the info, gold...just like each letter I received from my daughter when she was at boot camp!
Kahli - safe travels!
Teachermom - so wish I was you guys today travelling, I have to work ONE more day and have a meeting of course at the time the calls will probably come in!
See you guys in the Windy City! I plan on going to the Meet and Greet at Ramada for an hour and then end at Sarge's Meet and Greet! Don't forget to put your usernames on your name tags!
Stephensgirl - I will look for the white dress with purple flowers!
Helpful Info:
If you are planning to drive to the base: don't line up in the far right lane the morning of PIR. That lane ends, so stay to the left of it and it will save you lots of wait time. If time allows check your route the day before PIR.
When you get into the PIR Hall take some practice shots with your digital camera. Change your settings until you get the best pictures possible with the lighting and environment you are in. Your pictures will come out much better and you will be glad you took the time to do it.
If you go to Gurnee Mills Mall keep track of the amount of time you have. That mall is huge and there are no pass through stores or hall ways to work as short cuts. It is Z shaped so if you start at one end you have to go back to where you started the same way you came. And, you don’t want to get your Sailor back to the base late.
If your Sailor tells you the day of PIR that they will be on a chartered flight you won’t get to meet them at the airport. They go straight from the base to the Jet and don’t come inside. This doesn’t happen very often but it did happen to us and we didn’t really say goodbye on Friday night because we thought we would have several hours with her at the airport. Had we known we wouldn’t see her at the airport our goodbye wood have been different and we wouldn’t have been at the airport searching for her.
Good morning everyone. I know you are are so excited to see your Sailor and be at PIR. I am enjoying myself in VA Beach with my Sailor. She works nights and last night we got to go to the base and watch her launch a jet. We met the pilot and a bunch of the squadron she works with. They are a great bunch of Sailors and so funny. It was awesome getting to see her at work. We got to take pictures but I don't know if they are allowed to be posted so I won't put them on here but here is one taken of her with one of the jets when she got honored and got her name on the jet. If any of you will have an Aviation Ordnanceman you have a lot to look forward to. They are a very close-nit group and I am so proud of my AO :-) IYAOYAS While we are here this week we are also going to see her ship The Harry S Truman and going to Colonial Williamsburg :-)
.....and Stephen's girl. War Eagle to you, too! Kiss Samford Hall for me!
Safe travels everyone!!
War D. Eagle, diannep! My new sailor was a Plainsman.
