Becca- i am so sorry about your SR, lets hope he can stick in there and finish BC! i am praying everything works out!
congrats everyone who got phone calls! none from my SR's division yet, but my phone has been dying all night so im almost relieved mine didnt call, if he had i was so worried my phone would die in the middle of it lol.
Penny i am so sorry your phone call was cut short:( i know that has to be hard. why was it interrupted?
@mamabeans, it could be that your SR had watch. That happens sometimes when a division earns a call, there are some who can't call because they are on watch. They don't necessarily get to "make them up" either. It seemed early to me too about the calls, but perhaps the division is working well together which means that they could earn another call if they are doing well. Don't be worried though because if there was something wrong you would definitely get a call.
It seems early for this group to be getting calls already, time is flying by i guess. So happy for the great calls some of you have gotten and for the letters as well.
Becca, I will keep your recruit in my prayers. A girl that was there when my daughter went fell the first week and broke her leg and they gave her the choice of staying and letting it heal and then finish her training or the choice of going home to heal and then she could decide if she wanted to come back or not. She chose to come home and didn't go back. If this is something he really really wants I would encourage him to stay and finish. I know it is a long wait but they are much more likely to finish if they stay there. Keep us posted. If they are sending him home he will get to call.
Thank you so much for all of you sharing your phone call info and how the guys and girls are doing. It helps. But I am panic stricken. I haven't gotten a call. Neither did his girlfriend because she would have called me (I would think!). I am starting to freak out! Others in my SR's ship/div got calls so I don't know what to think. Did he get into trouble and got his phone call taken? Is he ok? They have my heart and soul up there at their training center and this is SOOO much harder than when I was flippin pregnant and giving birth while my husband was there!!! I don't remember it being this hard!!
About the tolls. If you are from the following states: Delaware, New York, Indiana, Maine, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, Virginia, New Jersey or West Virginia and you have an EZ-Pass, I-Pass or i-Zoom, you can use that on the tolls here in Illinois. You don't have to do anything but bring the transponder. The rental car companies do often charge a daily fee for using the I-Pass that comes with their cars so read the contract carefully. diannep is right there aren't too many tolls between the airports and Great Lakes and all of the tolls on the main highways are manned, however some of the exits are not manned and you would need exact change (or more, they always take more). Should you miss a toll however, don't wait for a bill in the mail because that is when they hit you with the extra charges. If you go through a toll you can go online to illinoistollway.com and pay the toll there. They give you a seven day grace period to pay the toll before they sock you with the extra charges. You can go here and read more about paying the toll online and what you will need in order to do that.
becca.... they may not send him home. I know there have been a few mom's who had their SR transfered to ship 5 and after an extended stay recovering were able to graduate.... Stay strong..... {{HUGS}}
My SR made his 1st phone call tonight. He called his girlfriend! She said they got to talk for about 5 minutes and she could hear a lot of yelling in the background. She said he sounded good and likes boot camp, but the food is bad. He wrote a bunch of letters on Sunday and put them all in one big envelope and mailed it to me to distribute to all. I'm thinking the envelope should be in my mailbox tomorrow when I get home from work, can't wait.
So happy for all who received a phone call.
TOLL STORY--BE SURE TO HAVE CHANGE!!!!
At our first PIR, we ran out of change for one of the tolls (was for fifty cents, I think). WHEN WE WERE BILLED, the cost was $30!!!!! There's a lesson here. Have plenty of coins on hand!
