For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Comment by CTsailor (03/118 PIR 4/13/12) on April 10, 2012 at 9:04pm: Received another phone call tonight! Got to talk for an hour and 10 minutes! They had Pizza Hut for dinner, were all eating candy bars and soda, getting on Facebook, playing pool, etc. Just hanging out and relaxing :)

littleone: So sorry you missed the call...but he may be able to call again soon. They get some "down" time now before PIR...not total but some. So keep the phone handy just in case! My son was able to call me when they had a pizza party during his PIR week.

astrid: I would continue to go on the No News is Good News theory. But, you can call the Public Affaris Office tomorrow and hope to get a "nice" person. Just ask if they can tell you if she is on track for 4/13 graduation due to travel plans that you have---. Some are nice and will help, some won't. But worth a try if you don't hear anything.

We leave Sunday and would love to spent extra time with her. Keeping my fingers crossed that we can, too
