No form letter yet:/ still waiting. Everyday I feel like I'm going to beat up the poor mail guy because I want nothing more then that formal letter! I just want a few words from him! Anyone else have a loved one who got there on Feb 15th and has their PIR date yet? Ah this is driving me nuts! Last week Zach(my SR) had a card written out before he left and had his mom mail it the day he left so that I was already getting mail on Friday... Such a sweet guy<3 and every other day Ive been getting note cards from him that he gave me that have sweet notes of encouragement! (:

IF ...they need to call home it will usually be within the first two weeks after they arrive. Not all call...not all call in that time frame. Just what we "commonly"see.
While in BC...your cell phone will be your new BFF!!
Mine needed additional contacts for background checks...it could vary.
Rating is their "Occupational Speciality"...job.

Hi my daughter is in ship 3 / division 117 and I also got her form letter today. She wrote a very short note on the back and at the end she asked for pictures (I thought it was funny because the day she left she told me no "pics mom") . I write her everyday even if I don't have much to say I also included a couple of pictures in everyone of them. We already booked our hotel rooms for PIR at the Quality Inn.

FireTeamLeaderWife my daughter will have a job with a security clearance required. Will the call be a week or two before PIR or from now? Do you know what kind of info might be needed? So I can make sure that I have it with me in case I should be at work (I work different shifts sometimes). Also can you explain to me what it means when everybody say a rating?

spring932 I hope you recieve your letter tomorrow.

I saw via the RTC facebook page that GL got SNOW....... Hope my SR was prepared for it!

Those SR's who will be going into a rating with a security clearance required may call home within the 10-14 days for information to be faxed or given over the phone. This is a business call and will be short, monitored and to the point. Usually no chat time. On rare occasions the person monitoring has allowed it...the key word is ...rare.
When I r'cd this call...the caller ID was "US GOVERNMENT".
The area code for GL is "847". We have also heard of some seeing "PAY PHONE".
