The question about whether or not Sailors may leave the airport after check in and before their flight was asked on the RTC FB page today. Here is the Q and A:

Question -

RTC - Once our SR's are at the airport, can they leave and return prior to their trip or do they have to stay until they leave. If their flight allows a little time to get away, it would be great to do something other than hang at the airport.

Answer -

U.S. Navy Recruit Training Command The recruits are traveling on Navy orders and going to "check out the city" is not part of those orders. The recruits know what the rules are regarding this. The Navy transports them to the airport where they are to remain until the time of their flight. Recruits who are leaving are putting themselves at great risk. They are on official orders that day, not liberty.

Good morning diannep. What seems like forever ago, I read a post for what to bring to PIR--a bag with all the essentials. Now it's just 11days away and I already want to pack that bag!!! Anybody save the link? (I remember towel, tide pen, lint roller...)
