Ship 02 Div. 922:  Got a letter today from my SR.  It was dated March 22.  Got a BS date.  I am so excited that graduation is getting so close.  Can't wait.

I've been reading on the 3/30 PIR site.  It is so great to read about those leaving this week to see their SAILOR!!!

Just one more PIR after this and then it will be US THAT WILL BE LEAVING!

It seems like forever since they left, but time is definitely passing much faster now.  Those first few days, weeks, seemed to crawl.  Just like our SR, we are "getting in the groove" of Navy life, life without them around.

I am on the "Ribbon Band Wagon" as well.

Jamie.... hugs to you!

OMG Mamabeans me too!  The first thing I ask is if there's a letter then if there's a package.  Good thing the Mailman is a close friend of ours and knows my son since he's about 4 and played with his son so he understands how I can get.  The poor guy.  The day he saw me waiting and just shook his head no was terrible.  I busted out crying, ran back inside and shut the door.  I wouldn't answer when he rang the bell!  Oh boy - those mail carriers must see and hear it all.

Ladies, I will be off the site for awhile this morning, but will be back later today.  I am taking my mother shopping.

Sigh....how precious...

FTLW gave you great info, Jamie.  It is shocking, I know.  But many many are in this position and go on to become sailors.  You should get another call from your SR soon with more details.  My suggestion is to write more than ever while he is there (once you get the address...in the meantime, his mail will be forwarded to him from his division address...just make sure you have his full name, middle initial so the base post office knows who the letters are for).  I have a feeling that these are stress fractures, as FTLW said.  Very common in bc.  Rest will heal them.  Please keep us posted and prayers for your SR (and you!).

Here they are!

JAMIE-SAILOR - If a recruit is injured in training and retained then they go to RCU on Ship 04 (Division 2341, I believe). This is the Recruit Convalescent Unit. He will get a new address.

Until you get more details we won't know why he was placed there. They take good care of them though! The most common thing we see are stress fractures. These are completely treatable.

Some stay in RCU and then once healed are placed back into a Division about where they left off in training to finish BC...they will have a new PIR date...whatever the Divisions date is for that TG. Some end up finishing BC right there in RCU...go through BS12 with a Division...then, those that do this will not have a PIR. I do not know the exact criteria that determines which scenario happens. I have heard that "where" you are in BC determines this...then I have heard it is an "option"...guess I'll need to poll some moms that have been through it. I know of two recently. Both of their Sailors had stress fractures...one went back to another division and the other finished BC in RCU.

Were you the one who got the call about this?

Please let us know how he is doing! You are always going to be a part of this PIR group! I will keep your SR in my prayers...you too dear!

Here is the link to the RCU Ship group on here:

RCU Ship 04/2341

There are some going through this and some that already have who will give you support!
