OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

So great..I happen to check the time on my phone yesterday at the yongest's softball game and saw the 847 area ocde coming through! I started jumping up and down and I'm sure most of the people around me thought I had lost my mind...of, well! I'm a proud Sailor Mom, right?

Comment by prdmomfrmnaples on March 25, 2012 at 7:25am: I got a wonderful birthday call yesterday, while driving my postal truck, LOL, my phone buzzed and it was somewhere in Illinois. Boy did I pull over fast. We had a terrific 30 min call talking about everything. He's so grown up! He loves it and he has a plan so I couldn't be more proud! He has some really good friends and I can't wait to see him!!!!!!!

Comment by Kahli's Mom on March 24, 2012 at 11:37pm: I GOT A PHONE CALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Finally! I am so excited, I can hardly type:) She sounds so good, and it was so hard not to cry on the phone. I was trying to be brave for her. I can hardly remember all of the things she said, it just was so amazing to finally hear her voice. First call since the initial "I'm here" call. She said she finally had to go and talk to the charge person and ask to make a call. They asked if she had gotten one yet, she said no, then they asked her why she didn't speak up? lol She never has liked to rock the boat, but I'm glad she finally did:) She says they are wearing their dress blues and when she got re-fitted for them they had to take them in due to all the weight she has lost. She really didn't have any to lose in the first place, I'm afraid I'm going to get back a skeleton! She also made it sound like I should hear from her around April 5th after battle stations. She didn't say the exact date for that though. I just am so anxious to hold my girl again. It felt wonderful being able to finally speak the words to her "I am so proud of you and I love you" and to finally hear her tell me how much she loves me! It was truly a blessed day and I am so thankful that I am able to share it with the people who truly understand.

Comment by ML(02/922 PIR 4/13 on March 24, 2012 at 9:08pm: YEA! I got a 20 minute phone call today. It is the first since the "I am here" call. It was so good to hear her voice. God answered my prayer. My birthday is Monday and all I wanted was to hear her voice. She sounded good. She was so excited, she was talking really fast. I was so happy that I wanted to jump up and down. After we hung up, I had a good cry, but I feel so much better just hearing her voice. I can't wait til PIR.
