So glad about the calls today!
Wendy, I have an idea when your division will be doing BattleStations from the day count you gave. Can't post it here, but have an idea. Friend request me if you want it.
LABriansMom: Pink Eye...yep....very prevalent at bootcamp. AND...they are not allowed to do BattleStations if they have it when their division goes (don't worry, if that happens, they are given medicine--clears quckly-- and go with another division). Colds, pneumonia, etc...so very common there. My theory is that their immune systems "take a hit" with all of the vaccinations they get at once when arriving...add tons of SRs living together in close quarters, exhaustion, stress...and, well...you know what happens. I keep waiting to hear about the SR in these groups that never got sick at all! So far, haven't heard that to happen and I've been on here for over 2 yrs!
You all be listening for BattleStations dates from your SRs. I'm starting a schedule here for this group. If you have a day count that your division was on yesterday, that helps to determine when they go. Please private message me any dates you have heard...we can't post the dates on this page (not even in discussion groups, so please remember that). You can private message dates to one another. There is a sort of "rhyme and reason" in how they go, so please message me dates. Sometimes they have been told incorrectly, or they change.
Also, please read the BattleStations discussion above if you haven't already to familiarize yourselves with what will happen.
OMGosh Mom's, Wives, Girlfriends, I just got off the phone with son! All fine, he is ok but all has had Pink Eye, Colds, he said he thinks he had every disease possible since he has been there and laughed. He sounded good. He said he didn't think he was getting another call until he was a Sailor but they surprised them this morning with calls to home. My son also said they did fire range , shooting guns etal, last week, he said he passed but they were yelling in his ear as they were trying to aim and shoot, the entire time. He wish he could take it again because he said he would do better but he passed he said that is the main thing. Some SR's are doing well in many things and some are not. He said they them carrying around toy guns that look real right he said. He is going to take the big test (written) in a week and that is the final test beside, Stations 21 he will do to become a Sailor. He said he has been studying alot. .They are doing fire fight stuff and gas chamber next week! He is n E2 I think he said that...2 stripes on his uniform he will have because he passed some test that was extra I think, ..you know I was so excited to hear his voice I was listening but not hearing lololol..he has one more big written test and then Stations 21 week after next....so that week he said expect a call when he is named Sailor but he has not idea what time of day or night so stay close to that phone..!
I got 3 letters in 1 envelope today! It made me so happy:) I would still really like to get a phone call, but I shouldn't be picky. She is loving her roll as Port Watch and said she has increased all of her numbers on fitness. She really sounds great and so mature! She mentioned that she was going to donate blood (she's been doing that for the last 3 year) She said for a couple of reasons, 1) the blood she donates goes to soldiers, and 2) she gets OREO's when she is done! She LOVES OREOS!!! lol She also said the one thing she wants to do when PIR is over is get a nice haircut and maybe colored. I can only imagine how hard it is for the girls especially to go without fixing there hair:) Congratulations on the phone calls, I'm still holding out hope that I will receive one soon! Have a great weekend:)
I am ecstatic...just noticed the counter is UNDER 20!!!
Also, received our PIR gift today. I ordered a beautiful pocket knife. My SR has always collected knives, so this was a perfect choice for him. I'm going to upload a picture if I can figure out how. LOL
Well, I tried to upload the pic but it wouldn't go through. I did get it on my personal page here, so click on my name if you want to see the front and back. I got it from http://www.nwtmint.com
I'm so happy, I received a 20 minute call from my SR this afternoon. He's doing very well and is looking forward to graduating and seeing his loved ones. He said he earned a 15 minute call a week or two ago, but he denied it because the whole division didn't get to make a call. He told me we better plan on going to an awesome restaurant when we get there, because he wants some great food, and wants to take his time eating and savor every bite. He also said they are on day 5-2.
Recieved a nice long phone call this morning from our son! Sounds like he's doing well and we cannot wait to see him!
Yah!!! To all the moms that got calls and letters today!!!
Received letters from my SR today! They are now arriving on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. His last letter was dated Tuesday the 20th (4-3) and he seemed to be enjoying hell week :)
@sdserna. What division is your son in. We all get crazy excited when we hear calls are coming in. Thanks. Congrats on the call and that he is happy!
