If your recruit asks for make up and contacts then they most likely have received permission to do so...so you may send it. ONLY if they ask. If they did not then don't send the items. Send travel size solution. You could put the liquid items in a Ziploc and use a small priority mail box. Be sure to write the contents on the outside. They will just have to open it in front of the RDC and then store it away for PIR.

That's what she said. In the rush of it all that she could have kept her makeup. I figured someone there should have makeup and they would share. She did say they are having sisterly love!
She has wanted hair pins and other stuff . Wonder if we can send a small box of stuff including her contact?. That way she had them for PIR.

Hey ladies! I haven't been on or checked in awhile! I got a phone call from my SR on Monday. It was the greatest feeling in the whole entire world! He sounded a little sick, but he said he's getting better! I actually got to talk to him for a whole 20 minutes and I was thankful for every minute! :) I'm slightly confused though, because in his letter he told me they would be wearing the dress whites at graduation and he also told me the same thing on the phone. Luckily the outfit that I have picked out to wear to his graduation will match the whites or the blues! (; I can't wait to see him!!!! Only 26 more days!!!!! :D

Also ocmom you can get makeup at the NEX. But my daughter has some and she said many girls did so they could share. Her blush accidentally got sent home in the rush of the first night. She said she would be fine. She would find some.

@ocmom. It looks like formal pictures are on 4-4, which should be this Wednesday for 117/118.

Hoping for a letter today. The last one was short because she had watch on Sunday morning. I know my daughter wants to be #1 on her test so she can have first choice. But I could see her being homesick and not wanting to go to far also.

She is also applying for STA 21. Do any veteran moms have experience with that program?

And I think my son is secretly hoping for Italy.  But I don't think he wants to say it out loud because he has a gf that would be upset about it.

My Sailor had dreams of being based in Japan or Italy. She couldn't wait to see the world. Well after 8 weeks of bootcamp she was so homesick, she was 2nd to get to pick her first duty station and she picked the closest place to home on the list lol. So we enjoy having her only 7 hours away. :-)

Comment by mamabeans on March 17, 2012 at 12:13pm

I researched and found the same thing LaLa.  And a navy wife told me too.  That if they are E4 and have dependents their first station will be in the US but can be Hawaii and if they have debt "judgements" like child support or civil court claims their first assignment will be in the US with a financial plan set up to repay the debt.

I confirmed with our recruiter.  They will be wearing dress blues. Which I am soooo happy for because they are my favorite!  So Sharp!

19 years ago, my man did his dream sheet in boot camp the last week but that maybe was because he went in unclassified and didn't have an A school right away until about 6 months in.  So I wasn't sure.  He didn't have a test out and we didn't get any of our top choices, but oh well.  You go where they need you.  I was very happy with the bases and the housing.  At first I thought it was going to be living in the slums or ghetto but it was actually really nice!

Just a note, having a large dog and being in the Navy was a PAIN IN THE ***.  So be prepared wives with large pets.  Hope it has changed !

When do they get their formal pictures taken? My daughter mentioned they got their military id taken in one letter. But in another she made a list to send her some makeup for pictures. Is it too late?
