Cathy - found this definition of "Ship Staff"

Ship Staff refers to those who assist the RTC officers in all the organizational duties for PIR. They may be a Side Boy and greet all officers as they arrive and depart, they may be on the Honor Guard as mentioned, they may be "Body Snatchers", catching shipmates before they collapse to the ground, they may assist their RCPO, or hold doors and coats, they may guard doors, or cakes! Whatever needs to be done to make everything run smoothly and according to program, they are assigned to oversee and do.

It doesn't actually list ship staff - so you might need more info unless Co-Twin knows what that stands for?

Oh, and he said he made ship staff, CO-Twin, what exactly does that mean??

Finally today I got to talk to Bryce, he sounded so good, said his division earn a flag for getting a total of 4.3 on their test out of a 5, says that doesn't happen very often. He has been made ship staff and always gets a 5 on his bed making and that the other recruits even come over and check his to son how he did it. I am so very proud of him right now, sounds like he is becoming a leader. And this is the twin who's room was always a mess and didn't follow rules very well. I am so happy and I think he is even pretty proud of himself, he sounded so confident. I told him how much I missed him and he said same here!! Love him!!

I'll take a peach pie! When do you leave Co-Twin for your trip?

Ellen you and I have the same PIR 10/4! After listening to some advice from here (thanks Co-Twin and 3boys) I have decided to not go to the Meet and Greet - hire a car - and I booked the Springhill Suites by Marriott! I would've booked the courtyard if I had seen it though! I am going on my own :0( hubby is gonna stay with the two little ones! Twinkle 2 was trying to come but to be honest she wants to come home for Thanksgiving and of course Christmas and I don't own United Airlines!

This is the recipe posted by another navy mom for the peach jam.

Co-twin, I don't think mine & ellen's sons are in brother divisions, her PIR is 10/4 & mine is 10/11. And I will take some peach jam !
Cathy, I do plan on going to sarges meet & greet, but have not made any reservations yet, still waiting on Jacob's form letter with his PIR date. That way I will know if we are staying for the weekend or the week. I'm getting a little antsy because I feel like I'm waiting too late to book hotel & flights, but I don't want to book things then have to change them. Where are you staying? I've been thinking about the Navy Lodge, but I have a bunch of notes from other moms posts with places they stayed that I'm going to go through.

I stayed at the navy lodge both times. It is $66 a night. It is the closest to the base and they serve free breakfast. You cano walk to a small NEX and get stuff to microwave in your room. You get a guest pass for the NEX. Sarges was OK didn't go twice. He tends to go talking too long. Not much on the meet end and it was dark in there. I felt after SAMs PIR that it is some what geared to getting his Taxi's business. Noticed that all taxi rides went for the "scenic" route, to justify the fee. We had a rental the second time and saved money. Quick drive right to the needed gate. We did chicken out for the drive over for PIR because we were worried about a line of cars to park. I don't think it is really an issue as you go sooo early and sit for hours. Ours wanted deep Chicago style piazza and we found a great one it is on the lodge list but most on there is Denny's quality food.
Try Giordano's there is one fairly close to base in a huge mall,(Sam wanted to buy headphones for his iPod). Or there is one down town Chicago. We had three days with Steve only one with Sam. 7105 Grand Ave Gurnee, IL 874-856-6100 this is the one closer.
Wild berries is the place for go out breakfast.
Sam wanted to shower alone for a long time.
Wonder if they let females shave for PIR as it is a long time from the Sunday scheduled shave. LOL
