We got security Clearance calls for Steve. But that really got under way on our way home from PIR. Steve's job is considered Navy intelligence so he had a higher security clearance than Sam. An agent was at our door the morning we got home. he did a sweep of the house said the dinning room would suit his purpose requested we call and get a couple of people come. kicked us out to stand around out in the snow while he interviewed people. He interviewed a couple of folks in town, drove to a college to interview a friend and went to Oklahoma to interview the boys boss who lives there in the winter.
Sam's was not that intense.

When we went to Steve's PIR Sam was so funny, the flags came in first and Sam said 'OOO i want to do that' Then the drums "OOOO I wanna do that" then the Band, "O I wonder if I can learn an instrument fast enough?" Then the Guns, where they toss them around, You did some of that I bet. "OOO I really wanna do that" he had us all laughing with his enthusiasm.

Sieerra Steve said that one of the first things they are asked is who plays a musical instrument.
So if they still do that he will be in the 900 division.

Your story brings back so many memories Sierrascraper! I can't believe it's almost a year since my boys left!
That is so funny how your twin still home is getting the room resituated, I bet you're right, it's his way of dealing with the seoeration.
Co-twin, I received the cards and they are too funny! My husband thought they were good & thinks the boys will get a kick out of them.

Hi 3boysmom. Good to hear from you. So sorry to hear that your twins won't get to be together for their birthday. We will be experiencing that for the first time this year. I think it will be harder on me than on my boys as I always planned fun theme parties for them. Congratulations to your other twin for his graduation from college. That is a GREAT milestone.

CO-twin...your son's story is hilarious about riding out the hurricane. Good to hear he is doing so good in Power School. I bet you are SUPER excited for this month to be over. That would be SO COOL if your son met up with mine at GC when he gets there. I'll tell Jonathan to keep an eye out for him and I'll show him a pic at PIR.

Yes...the roller coaster has begun. I shed a few tears this morning, but doing pretty good overall. Just curious mostly...you can be sure I am glued to my phone.
Nathanael is loving being the only child. LOL He started cleaning up the room and is ready to make it all his own. He wants to move out the bunk bed and put our queen bed in his room. It's almost comical to see him so involved in this. I guess it's his way of dealing with the change. He's really jazzed about starting college and he's applying for a job at a coffee shop tomorrow and meeting with a professor for a class he is trying to get into.
Bryan is doing good. He's been very understanding and he is my Rock. He is keeping me grounded which is what I need. He was so sweet this morning and asked to watch the boot camp videos. It made me feel better to watch them again.
We are crossing our fingers that Jonathan gets in the 900 division. We'll just have to wait and see. The waiting to find out is going to be torture.
Yes we are planning to go to PIR...hoping he actually gets put in a push division because Nathanael starts school on Aug 25 and in a normal division it looks like Jonathan would have PIR on Aug 29. That would mean Nathanael couldn't go because he can't miss any classes the first week. So...we are just trying to be flexible for now. Eeekkk...waiting is going to be so hard. Did you get any security clearance calls while Sam was in BC?

Sierra Squeeze for you. I did that thinking what they would be doing, I have a weather app and a time app so I can see what time it is where they are and what the weather is doing there. When you get on his division and PIR group there is a weather and a count down till PIR.
He is on his journey now. I am glad you got your call. Now you need to keep your phone always on you and charged. He will call again. If his division works well together quite often they will be rewarded with a phone call.
After his PIR they actually will let you have a gate pass if he doesn't fly out till later. Sam's flight was at 1pm and we got a pass and got to visit at the gate till he boarded. then got a call later that they unboarded and He actually did not leave until 5pm. We were all the way back from Chicago to Great Lakes though and his dad did not want to go back.
Wonder if he got into the 900 division? You have a trip planned right? How is Nathaniel? Your hubby OK?

3 boys mom it was good to hear from you and get an update.
One of mine is busy schooling again in Virginia, he had deployed once already, his ship did a little one week underway last week.Being an IT he can't tell me most anything about what he is doing.
His twin texted me at 5am woke me up :( but he did have good news that he got a good grade on his latest test. His GPA is 3.43 at this point which I think for the nuke program is pretty good. He also said he got an excellent on his last PFA. He is a speedy runner. He plans to ride out the hurricane in a lawn chair working on his car. I am headed out there the last week of July He graduates Power school 8-1 then gets to come home for leave.

Hi moms, I haven't been on here in quite a while, but enjoyed hearing about all the sailors. My sailor is still in San Diego and we were lucky enough to visit him in April. he's deploying in about 2 months so I hope he can come home befo re that. His twin graduated from college and was fortunate to find a good job right away, unfortunately the job is in Kentucky and we're in boston. Tomorrow is my twins birthday and it's the first one that I won't see them and they won't see each other. I know it was bound to happen, but still sad. My soldier became an army ranger is is currently deployed in a war zone, so I worry the most about him right now. I just finished the school year today and am looking forward to some needed rest and relaxation. Happy 4th to everyone!

Whew...that was a REALLY LONG and HARD day yesterday. We woke up at 5:30am and got ourselves ready and ate breakfast at our hotel.  Then we got to MEPS around 8am.  He got to hang out with us for part of the time until his swearing in ceremony which was REALLY cool! They also let us take pictures of him signing his contract too.  Then they let us drive him to the airport.  We made a quick stop at a Dutch Bros because Jonathan kept telling us how cool they were.  Well...it was just a drive up window, but the coffee was really good.  He didn't drink any and he didn't even eat the sandwich they sent with him.  Silly boy. We got him checked in at the counter at the airport and asked if we could get passes to the gate, but they wouldn't let us.  They told us they only do that for those who are getting deployed.  So...we stopped by the gift shop and then hung out near the TSA checkpoint for a few.  We could tell he was getting anxious, so we ended up saying our "see ya laters" and let him go.  I took pics of him going through security and then it was all over.  We wanted to see his plane take off, so we drove around the airport looking for a good place to watch from.  It turns out there was a military museum really close to the airport and near the runway. So...we walked around outside checking out the tanks and planes until his plane took off.  Then we watched it til it disappeared.  He had a stopover in Phoenix which meant he got to fly over the Grand Canyon, so he is lucky that he got a window seat.  We got another text from him when he landed in Chicago and I made sure to instruct him to go eat with his voucher before he checked into the USO.  He told us that they ate Chinese food.  He shipped out with another guy from our recruiting office.  The guy is from China or another Asian country and doesn't speak a lot of English, so they put Jonathan in charge of their group.  COOL EH?

We walked in the door from our trip about 9:30pm and we were so tired we headed straight to bed.  I was going to try to stay up and watch a movie, but I couldn't keep my eyes open.  I was so afraid I would miss Jonathan's "I'm Here" call, but thankfully I heard my phone when it rang at 11:30pm.

I woke up this morning and the first thing on my mind was what time it was in Chicago and what he was probably doing at that time.  I think I'll be waking up like that every day.  I started writing letters yesterday.  It's kinda awkward though since he won't even get them for two weeks.  But...I'm writing.  We have begun a NEW Countdown!

I know that knot is the stomach. I forgot that one until I read your post. Hang in there, this is tough on a mom but from now on you look forward to PIR. Then you can talk on the phone, message, skype, facetime, text pictures, look forward to Leave time. You should be able to have him home for Christmas, I think they like to have no one at school then. Sam graduated A school on the 22nd so he came home not sure how that works if they are still in school. When He graduates A school he can get leave too I think. Down side is for some strange reason flights are REALLY pricy to and from Charleston. Sam will be on Grad Hold then so I will give him a heads up to look out for Jonathan if he can. I think the Grad Hold sailors help out with the newbies. Hey you should take the train out to visit me if you can.
