I have had those sleepless nights also, not fun but they happen even beyond BC.

I had one of those myself last night.

PIR you generally get the PIR day, it is over at 10ish AM and you get the rest of the day till about 7pm.  Then you can meet them at the airport and give them back their phones and laptops. First time we were lucky and he didn't fly out till Sunday at 2pm so we had Friday, Saturday and half of Sunday!! The second time, we had PIR day and at the airport till about noon. So it is OK amount of time. The ceremony well make you cry as well.  It is pretty great.

PIR tips, I stayed at the Navy lodge $66 a night, Close to base.  They are very helpful there and serve breakfast, walking distance to a small NEX (navy exchange store) and they give you a guest of a sailor card to shop there.  First time I took Amtrak and it was under $200 one way.  Next time flew into Milwaukee airport and it was not far to drive and cheaper flights.  I bid on a rental through price line and got a great deal.

COtwin, yes it will be hard. At first I pushed for Jacob to try & get his date moved up to when Darien & their friend Paul leave so they would PIR together so we could go to both. He says he asked about it but hasn't really pushed it so I have backed off. I felt like I was being controlling & selfish & if he wanted it he would he tried harder. Our problem is we live in Texas & are on a REALLY tight budget. It would be an, at least, 17 hour drive, but I don't know if we can afford to fly, get a room for a week, rental car...man, this is what is causing me so much anxiety! We REALLY want to go to both or neither, how could we go to one & not the other...
Our boys are such AWESOME boys(men) &have never complained about growing up "poor" & not always getting the stuff their friends have, that is one of the reasons they like working, if they want something or to buy their girlfriends something, they have the $$ to do it. Just like cathymg & sierra said, our boys are good boys! Both their gf's parents love them, their friends parents love them.
I think I will repeat what others have said on here, we have all raised some pretty awesome kids. They all sound like they are respectful, kind, confident people that have or are about to begin a wonderful journey. I can't wait to see where it leads them! (Actually I can wait...but it's gonna happen so hold on tight)

I live in a town with a population of 800. 25 years ago it was 400.  Anyway years ago a lady had twin girls, then 4 years later a friend had twin girls, identical, four years later I had my fraternal boys, then four years after me another gal had fraternal boys, and then 4 years later another set of girls. There is something in the water here.  Also was a set of red head triplets before all this.

Wow Sierra, I think it is pretty interesting that your husband is also a identical twin. He really does probably have some words of wisdom. I sure would like to get into my twins heads and you kind of have a good source of information right next to you. We don't even know of other twin in our family I guess years ago there were twins born in my mom's family, but one of them died so no one ever mentioned it until my boys were born and then a cousin of my mom's told her that an ancestor did have twin but it was years ago.

Interesting how your daughter put the relationship with her twin Disy. That is exactly it...they know how to push each other's buttons. It's like they still have that twin communication thing that we don't see. I hope you are hanging in there. Definitely let those waterworks flow. I get choked up over the silliest things and my kids havent even left home yet. I always think about both of them and their futures and think about how long it will be til we will all be together again. We are all here for you even if we are at different stages of our sailor's adventures.

Cathymg...my kids are perfect angels in public too. All my friends always complement on how well-behaved and polite they are. I always laugh because they are not that way at home. I think it's because they know home is a safe place so that's where they can act out.

I really do want my boys to get along better. My husband says it's just a maturity thing. I sure hope so. I think that once Jonathan leaves, Nathanael will realize how much he misses the "good old days" with his brother.

They do have a bit in common. Both are musically inclined except that Nathanael hasn't played his trombone since middle school :( They both are super smart and they both are computer geeks and video game maniacs. They are both bookworms too.

I call Nathanael my social butterfly. I see so much of myself in him it scares me. I think that's why we butt heads so much. Jonathan is more organized and quiet much like my husband.

I don't think I've mentioned this before but I am married to a twin too! My husband is also an identical twin. They look quite a bit alike too but they have their distinctions. When I look at pics of my husband and his brother as babies, the boys look just like them. It's crazy! My husband and his brother have a really good relationship. They had a hard up-bringing and I think it really brought them together. Recently, my husband's brother had to move in with us as he lost his job and is separating from his wife. So...now I really am the MINORITY in the house! I like my husband's brother though so it's not too much of an issue. The kids think he's a cool uncle because he's a computer geek too. LOL

We don't have to worry about collge parties and them failing. My Sam says, "Colleges just want your money and they really don't care if you succeed. the Navy in investing in me and they will make sure I succeed."  We will know they are being well taken care of and on the road to a successful future most likely.

Trust me all these young adults get on ships they will be having adventures.  Got a message from mine and he had quite the week last week. Sorry I can not elaborate due to navy rules, however it was more in a week than I will ever see. He has seen more in a month than I ever will.  He will share more when his deployment is done, January.
