Wow Disy, sounds like you will have a very busy rest of the year. So how do you feel about the girls being apart?? I think my boys are going to miss each other more then they know!! But they will still be able to see each other for a while, because they will both be in Pensacola, FL.

A destroyer does seem like a nice size. It sure would be nice if that was an option for Jonathan but alas...a nuke's gotta go where a nuke's gotta go. I was able to go on a tour on the USS Constellation when I was in NJROTC in high school. It's a MASSIVE ship. My personal favorite ship though is the Battleship. There is just something about their firepower that amazes me. I actually wrote a report about the USS Missouri being re-commissioned as one of my assignments in high school. Whoa...that memory takes me back!

Co-twin, thanks for the link. It does look like they take good care of the crew. :)

Co-twin mom,
I'm sure it's not easy to have your son on deployment and you don't know here in the world he is! I'm not looking forward to that. But, it sounds like he's getting all the experiences that they hope for. I didn't realize that the crew was that small on a destroyer. My son is going to be on the Milius. I imagine all destroyers are similar in crew size.

Co-Twin, it is great you got to talk to Steve today, I do imagine the not knowing where your child is is very hard, but at least communication is so much better these days. I brother went into the Navy when is 1987 and staying in contact today is so much easier.

It is funny, we started Christmas is July was year, because it was getting harder and harder for us to find time for our extended family during the Christmas season, so now that is what my mom's side of the family decided to do

Seirra, Yes I did mean the Navy DEP site. Thanks

CO-twin...I hope you get to hear from your son Sam on how his first day of A-school went. I bet you enjoyed communicating with Steve today! It's good to hear he likes his ship. 300 seems like a reasonable #.
It's good to hear you were busy at your shop today. Business is always a good thing! I sure hope you get more rain soon. Things have cooled off to the comfortable mid-80s around here. We could definitely use more rain though.

I had a private art student this morning and the store has been very busy until now.  I was texting Steve in between customers.

Now I have two framing jobs to get done.

It poured rain for about 5 min. It appears to have stopped. We need an all day rain for more than a day. The Colorado flooding that has been on the news is on the other side of the state not here. It has been very dry.

Wait until you go to PIR with 700-900 new sailors singing Anchors Away.  So moving, makes me tear up just thinking about it.  I got it on video.

I am not one to post quotes too  often (occasionally maybe) but I am not opposed either.  If I don't want to read them I ignore it but CatMom can really bless me sometimes.  I am a what I would call a living Christian.  I hate to use devout to strong as a description.  I try to live it every day all day, I like to having a running prayer going all day.  That is my relationship.  OK enough preaching.

My Son Steve is on the USS Bainbridge.  It is deployed until the end of January.  He can not say where he is which is hard sometimes.  I was just texting him though.  His ship is small under 300 crew.  that is why he wanted a destroyer

He LOVES it.  He had been all over in the last month and has had in his words."lots of awesome experiences that he will look forward to telling me about someday." They look like the ship makes sure they have fun time. look at pictures on here:

Sorry I haven't been on but it has been a busy day at the store, I own an Art Supply store and Frame shop.

I like Christmas in July, I think that is something I will do, have Christmas when it fits into the navy's schedule, I do not think Christ minds.

My other one Sam started A School today in GC, SCarolina.
