CO-Twin, Jacob, the one that always wears his hair pulled back in an "Ozzy Knot" is really not liking the idea of cutting his hair.  He said he wished after BC he could grow it out again and just keep it off his collar like the ladies!! NOT!!  Darien isn't too thrilled about it, but he hasn't really complained about it.  I love the picture at PIR!  His helmet was for prom!  Their theme was a masquerade ball so he wore a white tux with the black shirt and vest and was a Stormtrooper! Everyone loved it. They were both supposed to dress up like someone from Star Wars, but Darien waited too late to order a helmet.

Yes, they do look just alike.  It is funny because from the back we still get them mixed up!

I know what you mean about the lump in the throat.  One of the other moms calls it liquid pride.  Sam will graduate A School in February then there will be a hold time (has a name but forget it now) the we will be in Power school for 6 months, then another hold time then Prototype.  all is about 2 - 2 1/2 years. When will your be in Goose Creek?  I love that name!

Mine were premie also.  only 4 weeks early, tried to be 6 weeks early.  Sam 6lb11oz, Steve 5lb 12oz kinda glad they were early, I think I would have popped.

Sam had a jaundice issue, Steve had hip displasia and borderline CP but grew out of every issue!  I think a real miracle.

It is GREAT to be here and I hope we find even more Moms of Multiples to join us.  I enjoy sharing with you gals and it's so cool how we can all relate whether both go in or not. There definitely is a connection that we share and understand. It's great that we are all at different stages and can prepare ourselves or even answer questions that we might not have experience in, but at least maybe have come across on this monstrous site that I wouldn't give up for the world!

I don't know about you gals, but my sons were preemies when there were born. They came almost 7 weeks early and only weighed 3lb 15oz(nathanael) and 4lb 6oz(jonathan).  They were pretty healthy and only had to stay in the hospital for 2 weeks, but they were so little for so long.  That was a trying time and definitely there has always been a connection between nurturing such little boys and now seeing them full grown healthy smart young men.

Co-Twin's son and mine will both be Nukes, so that's another connection. I know CO-twins' will be almost done with Power School or headed to Nuke Prototype by the time Jonathan gets there.  Still, it's nice to be able to watch and prepare myself now.  I'm afraid that as time gets much closer I'm going to lose my mind. Every time I talk about the National Anthem or see a flag or just hear stories about the Navy or whatever, I can't control the lump in my throat.  I've always been that way in a sense, as my Mom married a retired Navy/Army guy and I was in NJROTC all four years of high school.  So...I've always had patriotic blood running through me.  Now it has even more meaning and just thinking of the pride I have for my country and now my son is uncontrollable.

Mothers of twins or other multiples and unique, they have experienced something special, not only are we dealing with the separation from our child going away, we are dealing with our kids who have been together from birth being separated from one another. Tell her that we wish she would join, because she is still probably going through the same feelings that the rest of us are. Glad I have you girls!! I feel like I can share things on here that I don't share other places, I know it is because we have 2 things in common, multiples and the Navy and those 2 things I don't have in common with any of my friends.

Oh also Cathy Did you ever read Water for Elephants?  Reminded me of your work.  Lovely of you to connect with these sometimes forgotten people.

Cathy  you will cry a lot trust me and if you are on the groups for your boys PIR dates You will cry everyday, but it is exciting as wen one ship and Div gets calls you will get a heads up to stand by your phone and look forward to it ringing, nothing like those phone calls home and those letters that start about 3 week in.  One mom in Sam's group named it VBS (not bible school) Vibrating Bra Syndrome and she put her phone in there. when she did not have pockets. LOL

Oh Cathymg...hang in there.  I know the time is getting closer and closer for you.  It's hardest on the Moms for sure.  The hardest part after letting them leave is wondering when you will get to see them again.  My worst fear is that my boys will go off and live their own lives and Mom won't get to be a part of it anymore.  I'm the adventurous one in the house and I motivate everyone to get out and do different things.  I LOVE being the minority, but the boys would all stay home if it weren't for me motivating them.  LOL  It's going to be strange not having them around.  Nathanael will still be around a bit, but I know he wants to get the heck out of this town.  Again, I just worry that I'll never get to spend time with them like before.  It's heartwrenching.

CO-twin...I hope she does join our group.  I dream of both of my boys going in, but I just don't see it being a reality.  However, I am going to do some sleuthing on the Navy COOL website and see if I can find something that just might pique Nathanael's interest. You never know :)

Found a destroyer Mom with twins she didn't want to join because only one is in the navy, I messaged her the link and told her that not all here have two in.

I am not sure about being able to have contacts. From our experience it was a definite no.  Sam actually didn't think the glasses were so bad.  but he did get contacts ASAP once in Goose Creek. Quite the height difference between us hu?  He always looks down and says'"God your short mom"

I am an activity director at the Nursing Home here in town, many of my residents were upset when I left today, they were wanting to go home, wanted someone to let them out, didn't know why they were there. How my heart goes out to them, most of them think their parents or their husbands are home waiting for them and they can't get out to see them and though that isn't reality, it is real to them. How I love all of them and wish I could hug them into feeling better. The other day I told one lady that maybe we could just go sit in the corner and cry together, that I was having a bad day too and thought that I could use a shoulder to cry on,and believe it or not that brought her out of it. I am glad I have all of these wonderful people to put my energy into when the boys are gone.
