OMG CO-twin your son is so adorable in those glasses. I bet he hated them. Poor guy. I think I might just have my son wear the glasses because I want to see him in them. LOL

We live 6hrs from MEPS too, Jonathan will be leaving out of Boise. But, we really want to see him sworn in so we plan on going up there. We haven't decided if we will go to the airport or not. We will still give him something yummy to take with him. I read about giving him a small piece of paper to write a note on so that he tuck it in his clothes that go home in the box. I'm hoping I can convince him to do this for me.

Oh, I see!! We live about 2 hours away from MEPS and we will take them all the way to the hotel after we do paper work at the recruiters Office in Springfield.

Great Picture, can't wait to see my boys in uniform!!

Doubletrouble Oh they look exactly alike.  Like the clone helmut.

Here we live a 6 hour drive to MEPS so we dropped them off Monday and they drove to Denver spent the night and did the MEPS things, Medical stuff and swearing in the next day.  So the cookies were for the car trip and the night in the hotel.  Maybe they can get away with taking it on the plane but I imagine the cookies should dissapear by Chicago.  Here is Sam with his BC glasses.  Steve was so scared he put EVERYTHING in the box.  Sam kept his SS card and his Drivers license and the cross I gave him.

Co-twin, They can take something with them on the trip to GL? They won't take anything away until they get there??

Sierra, hope you boys have a great time camping, One of my boys is in the Ozarks right now with a friend and his family, I hope he has fun but not to much fun.

Double trouble. How do your boys feel about getting their hair cute?? What I would do to have hair like theirs!!

My boys will be at the GL at the time, just 2 weeks apart, so they will be there for 6 week together, I know they won't really get to see each other, but just another good reason to go to church, besides the obvious, They will get to see each other, and I have to say that does make me feel a little better.

That is a good idea, sending a box of cookies or something to snack on on their way.

I have thought about how they will feel being separated from each other, they wouldn't dare admit it if they were worried about it.

It is so good to read that ya'll are or have had the feelings I am feeling about the boys leaving.  I don't know what I would do if it weren't for this site and knowing all my crazy feelings are normal.

Thank you ladies!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the idea of making them a box of cookies to share as they head out.  I will have to spend some quality time working on something special to send along with Jonathan when he goes.  Whew, that will be an emotional time, but well worth it.  I've been keeping a journal ever since we signed the papers for Jonathan to go to MEPS.  I don't write in it every day, but some days I write my feelings in it and sometimes a poem spills out too.  I also have been writing verses that I see on N4M that will be good to send to him in letters.  And, I use it to take notes of things that I don't want to forget to do for him when he leaves.  I will add the cookies/letter to the list now :)

I think I'm the tallest girl in the family, however my Dad was really tall and my brother is over 6'.  So...I have a feeling the boys will be at least 6' tall.  I think it's cool!

The boys went to Shasta Lake for the rest of the week.  I'm sure they will be just fine as we are a camping family so they know how to cope.  They already sent me a message saying they had a good signal there and they even have WiFi.  LOL  What ever happened to low-tech camping trips?  Funny thing is, I didn't butt in and make sure they had EVERYTHING they needed for this trip.  I left it all up to them.  So...if they are missing something, well they are going to have to manage without.  It's a good learning experience for them.  Their friends actually brought all the gear so they didn't have to plan too much.  Lucky them!
