OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

A little about me:
I am a substitute teacher for Elementary Schools, I work with mentally challenged adults, part time, and have done tutoring and after school programs. I have 3 great kids. My oldest, Kris, just joined the navy. He is about to graduate from Boot camp, in a few weeks. I have a daughter, Taryn, 16 yrs old, and a daughter Danielle, who is 12. My older daughter is busy with her friends, and now with her job. My youngest is my buddy, and we do a lot together. She and I go to the market, parks, free concerts. My husband and I have a very strong marriage, but he works long hours. He joins us in the fun, every chance he can. We look forward to vacations and weekend get-aways. My husband, Don and I volunteer for the Philadelphia Folk Fest, and have been doing so for over 25 yrs.

It is still early, since my son is graduating on the 20th of August, a few weeks from now. I was doing well with it until he wrote to my eldest daughter " They say there's a chance I may have to go to the desert, but don't tell mom or dad, yet" My son is growing up, and it makes me proud. I feel like he already has more appreciation for his family, thru his letters. But I am just beginning to have a reality check. He still won't be coming home after graduation, as he goes on to A-school.It's hard to let go, and to accept that he is a grown man, now.
Our Navy experience so far...
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.
