For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

- It's been awhile since I've posted anything. Things are going good. My daughter was sent to school in Connecticut. Then was stationed in kings bay Georgia. She is now on her 1st deployment. I just received a email from her. All is well, she's just very busy and is learning a lot. My question is how to send a reply. I was told it has to be done in a certain way or it won't be received. Thanks...Mel

Since you have a Sailor, you can change "At Boot Camp now" above to “Enlisted.”
If you get an error message, then look at the area/s in the error message and unclick all of the choices in the area/s and make choices closer to the question/s. Some choices may have changed since you joined.

Since your recruit has a contract for Machinist's Mate (Submarines) (MMS), join Sub Moms and GROTON, CT. SUBSCHOOL & "A" SCHOOL MOMS and check out the group, Machinest Mates, and Naval Submarine Base New London Facebook Page.
The Rating Information Card for MMS can be found at https://www.cool.navy.mil/usn/enlisted/rating_info_cards/mmss.pdf. (If you get the security warning, it is safe to go there.)
Your Sailor will most likely fly out to "A" School the day after PIR. Plan to leave late Saturday or on Sunday. See PIR Day and Liberty during PIR Weekend to help you know how to plan your weekend.
Your Sailor can be assigned to either MM-AUX (Machinist Mate for maintenance and repair of auxiliary equipment), which is also called Machinist's Mate Engineering (MME) (See https://www.thebalancecareers.com/navy-enlisted-rating-job-descriptions-3345837 for more info.), or MM-WEP (Machinist Mate for submarine weapons), which is also called Machinist's Mate Weapons (MMW) (See http://www.navydep.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3665 for more info.), during the training pipeline. The assignment can be made prior to boot camp or during "A" School.

Divisions 065 and 066 are brother divisions and train together and will have Battle Stations-21 (BST) together, so look for others with loved ones in either division. Write to your recruit and ask when Battle Stations-21 (BST) will be so you will know when to expect the "I'm a Sailor!" call.

Oh Melissa, it is hard not hearing from them. I remember when my daughter was in years ago, that she only had Sundays to write letters but if she had other things to take care of like uniforms, or extra study, she had to use her Sundays to do those things!!!! Once things start rolling a little smoother for her and her division, she should have some more control over her time and be able to write!!! I hope you hear from her soon. But if you have her address start sending those letters to her. Keep them upbeat and positive and encouraging!!! They live for hearing from home!!! Number your envelopes so if she gets several letters at once she can read them in order. Good luck to your girl!!!

I see you are new to N4Ms and your daughter is in boot camp now? I'm happy to see you left a post on our group page, Please feel free to ask any questions you may have, talk freely about your feelings, fears or concerns, or just chat about life. We are all in different phases of our daughter’s Naval careers - from newbies to those whose daughters have been in for several years - from officer to enlisted!!! We support all our sailor girls and each other as well. Not just during the Bootcamp days but the weeks and months following, as they go off to school, first duty station, or first deployment. Let us support you when you're missing her, lend an ear when you need to vent, and celebrate with you when you want to brag!! Again, Welcome Aboard!!!!!
