OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

I was going to type the "shout out" in caps but remembered that is against the TOS LOL

So, my shout out is to all the Moms here who have raised such selfless kids that they went off and joined the Armed Forces.

Some of us are new to our child being in the Navy--like myself--while others have the added grey hairs from worrying about their child. I hope each and everyone of you are comforted in some way today by knowing our kids are following their…

Yamilet Peterson. How do you know her? Has she written you something? There are many more moms that you could be friends with that are real people. SHE IS NOT A REAL PERSON.......

Kayleigh and Gloria are gone from here now, but I think this applies to your friend, Yamilet Peterson. How do you know her? Has she written you something? There are many more moms that you could be friends with that are real people.

Today maybe will count for day one, but it could not! I know it counts for you! They could still be filling a ship (the building they live in is called a ship). Did you get a call last night that he made it? If not, don't worry! I have had some people tell me they didn't get the call. Possibly it is because they have a phone service that doesn't accept collect calls and if you didn't send a phone card with him or it was late, he probably didn't make the phone call home! (It was nothing to speak of anyway! It lasts about 30 seconds and it is all scripted. "Hi, I am here. You will receive a box with my things in it and I will call you in about 3 weeks." Click. LOL

The first thing is the "kid in a box". You will receive the box via FED-EX and it will have everything your recruit left home with, except the kid! People have mixed emotions about this box. For me, it was just a confirmation that things were going as planned. (See here for other moms sharing about the box http://www.navyformoms.com/group/newmomsstophere/forum/topics/the-box-3) Don't look for a letter in the box. There won't be one. The form letter comes a few days later via US mail. That will have in it your son's address and graduation date in it! That is what you want to know! Then you'll have a light at the end of the tunnel
