OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

You still need to make change 3 and to change "In the NROTC program" above to "Enlisted."

Make change 3 at the bottom of OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) (clickable link). There may be other changes you need to make as well, so read and consider each of the changes.

There are 4 guests permitted for your SR's PIR, but only those on the Access List will be allowed into the Drill Hall for PIR. Make sure your SR knows who will be attending, so he will list them.

There are no groups for just those with loved ones with the Aviation Structural Mechanic (AM) rating, so join Sailors In Pensacola, FL For A School....Corry Station too!! and Parents of A School Sailors in Pensacola and check out Airman Family and Friends. The Rating Information Card for AM can be found at https://www.cool.navy.mil/enlisted/rating_info_cards/am.pdf. Your Sailor will most likely fly out to "A" School the day after PIR. See PIR Day and Liberty During PIR Weekend to help you know how to plan your weekend.

Since you have a Recruit at the RTC, you should change "In the NROTC program" above to "Enlisted" because NROTC refers to the Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps, a college scholarship program. You aren't the first person to make that mistake and you won't be the last.
