OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Specific information on this policy change will be provided in the coming days and weeks.

You should be receiving the form letter soon since he will be in the 11/27/2013 TG. Join PIR 11/27/2013 TG 03.  Don't send letters based on the address from the recruiter until you receive the form letter or 2 full weeks have passed without the form letter. See  Ship/Division--How it Works and Letter Writing & Fun Stuff/Questionnaires to send to your Recruit. That will explain the extra info you were given in the address from the recruiter. Also, you still should make change number 3 in OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile).

What is your SR's rating (job/specialty) going to be? There are groups for most ratings and/or "A" Schools and knowing that will help you to better plan for PIR weekend. Take care and blessings to you and yours.
