Hi. Glad to be on this site. My 19 year old nephew arrived at Boot Camp 12/12/11. His box came Monday, 12/19. No form letter yet. Has anyone received a letter from a recruit that arrived on the…Continue

Forgot to say, my husband was born at Fort Bragg. He was on staff at First Baptist Brevard a number of years ago and was also Pastor of University Heights Baptist Church in Charlotte.
I received a long letter yesterday, Wed. He said tomorrow, Friday, is his final PFA, Monday the final written test and Battle Stations begins Tuesday, February 7. I cannot believe we are two weeks out and the thought of seeing him makes my heart very happy! He said the high there yesterday was 57! Oh how I wish the normal Northern winter weather would wait until we're gone but, I heard The Weather Channel said within the next two weeks, they would be experiencing normal. ARGHHH! Just let get there and then I don't care what the weather does!
Yep, you're right---it's almost here! It seems that it would definitely be either Wed night or Thurs night for the first 4 divisions then. They have started BattleStations for a PIR group on Wed before, but only once or twice in the almost two years that I have been following the schedules. We shall see!
What division is your son in? They normally don't start BattleStations on Wed night a week before PIR week. But if he is in one of the lower numbered divisions, then they could be going Thur night (finish Fri) 9th/10th.
Thanks for the Friend request. Avoid any envelopes other than standard white ones for letters and white ones for cards. If you were to mail the photo envelope, your SR would need to open it in front of the RDC, so don't do that, mail photos in a card or print them directly onto paper to save room and then write around them. The exception to the envelope rule would be about two weeks before PIR, your can send a small padded envelope with contacts and a 2 oz. bottle of solution if your Sailor has contacts and wants to wear them for PIR.
About letters being received, there a number of people writing my son so I know multiple letters are arriving there for him each week; HOWEVER, he told me, they earn receipt of them! Based on the postmark of letters we have received from him, he writes on Sunday, mails on Monday and we receive them on Wednesday...at least that has been the case thus far. We love NC! It is my husband's home state. We are mountain lovers and frequent the Smokies as often as we can. We really enjoy Asheville! I think it is a beautiful part of the country! Will you be going to graduation?
unc80, I have only rcv'd one letter other than the form letter. His letter was dated 26 Dec and we rcv'd it on 30 Dec. His wife, who is in Wilmington, rcv'd letters yesterday. He had put 4 in one envelope. He was not a happy camper because he had not rcv'd any mail from she nor I as of 1 Jan. We both have been writing almost daily. With the Monday holidays I am guessing that has been the reason for the delay. He is used to the two day service between my house & Wilmington. Hope you get something soon.
I hope you received a letter yesterday.
Have a good day.

Sorry no letter yet. I know you are anxiously waiting. If they are not in the same division now they may be in the same nuke class. It will be nice to meet you at PIR since they will be going through the same stuff at the beginning of Nuke school anyway.
I hope you had Merry Christmas and that you receive that letter tomorrow. The holidays are slowing it down.
