Praise God! Yvonne came home from the rehab center yesterday. We've spent yesterday afternoon and all day today getting used to her being home and her figuring out how to navigate the house in a wheel chair. The Sentara Home Health Care nurse is coming to being their work with Yvonne tomorrow afternoon. She will have nursing care, Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy as well as a Certified Nurses Aid. She is getting stronger each day. Please pray that she will get back the use of…

Thank you for your continued prayers. I found out yesterday that they are discharging Yvonne on Friday of this week. I am now trying to scurry around to get things set up to bring her home - safely! The Rehab center, believe it or not, has been out of one of the major pain meds Yvonne needs for two days! She's really hurting! They did finally get the med in this evening. Pray for me as well that I know everything I need to do to get her home safely.

Yesterday one of the aids wanted to get Yvonne transferred from her bed to a wheel chair and was not close enough to assist when her legs buckled on her again. This time the PT supervisor as well as the director of nurses all got involved to make sure that didn't happen again. They are now requiring two aids to assist when transferring Yvonne. As a result she had more pain than usual, especially last night. Today was better. Two aids moved her from the bed to a wheel chair today -…

Please pray for Yvonne's legs. Periodically they are simply giving out when she stands on them. Or moves from the bed to the wheel chair, or to the toilet, or elsewhere. It takes several people to lift her up. The PT people are concerned about it and mention it often. I've seen it happen. As they move closer to her coming home, it is a safety issue for her and for me. I know God can strengthen her legs so this stops happening. Please pray about this for us. Yvonne came home today for…

Please pray.. Yvonne was transported to the ER at Leigh Memorial. The wound doctor at Bayside was concerned about the opening in her incision possibly being infected. She wanted to get it looked at. The doctor here looked at it and thinks the fluid is not infected. Whew! But they are going to do some tests including a CT SCAN of the area.
Praise God! The report was positive! No infection and CT scan confirmed no pockets of fluid. Wound vac correct procedure and…

Overall today has been a very good day for Yvonne! She had a couple of new physical therapists working with her. They took her to the gym and had her walking with the walker, stepping up and down a 6 inch step repeatedly. Some isometric exercises with a rubber stretch band. The issues with her meds have seemed to be rectified at the moment. Unfortunately, they left her sitting in a wheelchair after her PT session for an hour and a half; and in spite of the pain med she got, the pain…

Saw the surgeon yesterday. He ordered a wound vac for the opening in her incision. He painted a pretty bleak picture of what "could" happen. I was pretty overwhelmed! He also added Ensure nutritional supplement to her diet. He added an oral antibiotic to guard against infection setting in. And she is to continue PT. Please pray for her. I believe God has her in His hands! But honestly, it seems like there is anew crises every day. God seems to resolve them, but still, it is pretty…

Today has been a very good day for Yvonne...and for me. She was happy and feeling good when I called her in the morning. Talked with the doctor and I think we got some issues with her pain meds resolved (I hope)! Her PT session was very good. She walked down the hall and all the way around the nurses' station and back to her room. God is good and loving and kind! He is hearing and answering prayer and I am so very grateful to Him! They did administer another covid test this morning.…

The rehab center moved her out of the isolation ward after 10 days as promised Friday afternoon. The new room isn't much different than the other one. But it is on the other side of the curtain! Please pray for the nurses and staff at the rehab center. I've mentioned it before about her personal care concerns. They also still seem to be struggling with knowing how much medicine for pain to give her without overmedicating her. Please also pray for Yvonne in her spirit. She is struggling…

When Yvonne came out of the hospital she tested positive for Covid so at the Rehab center they have had her in the covid isolation section. They told us it would be 10 days and she would move into the regular unit. Tomorrow is 10 days and she is so looking forward to moving! She is totally asymptomatic. But I just talked with a person who said it may be the 8th (14 days). I'm not sure if that's for sure or not, but if it is she will be so disappointed. I asked everyone to pray that it…

Just thought I would share a picture that I took after I got to Yvonne's room and got all of the stuff up that I brought. Her nurse this morning volunteered to help me carry the stuff into her room and then started singing happy birthday to her. I do believe it made her feel good! The metallic balloons were my original idea. She had asked me to buy her a new toothbrush and I was going to get her a box of Kleenex. So, I put them in a gift bag with some colorful tissue paper and gave…
