I received my first letter from Andrew. He said things are going well, he's getting use to the routine, following directions making new friends. I'm so proud of him and am just counting down the days till May 11!

Hi all... Just wanted to let you all know about a great program for Recruits. CallsforRecruits.org has FREE phone cards for recruits in bootcamp. If you or someone you know is leaving soon for bootcamp, go to the website and get some phone cards for them to use while they are at BC. They can use them at A school or anytime if they need them, although most people have cell phones these days LOL. Just thought I would pass along the info....

Cat,
With your scores you are eligible to apply for Navy Diver programs. What you have to do is get the application completed and go to meps and pick a job then try-out for the physical standards tests and get placed into the lottery for Navy diver candidate school. Upon completion of meps and swearing into the navy then you are required to attend the dep meetings once a month. You can attend them as a guest anytime. You don't leave for basic training until after graduation from…

I have to say I was shocked to see the box on the porch! He just got to GL on 3/28/12. Didn't smell to bad and I didn't cry until the dog crawled in the box like he was looking for him. So, now i'm sad.

If my daughter went to Great Lakes on Monday, about how long does it take to get the box, and does her letter come about the same time with her address or do we wait longer for that information?
I just need to write a letter to her so that I know I am communicating with her :)

Just a thought here. I just wondered, if an SR has a change in Ship/Divison, will we be notified? It would be awful to be sending mail to the wrong one, so I know there will be someone on here that can answer the question. Thanks so much!

For some reason everything I saw on tv or head on the radio today brought tears to my eyes. It's hitting me hard today that my last child is leaving in just a few short months and unlike going to college or just moving in with friends as my other 2 children did, this child won't be available to me to check in with and talk about his day. I know this is just a bad day and tomorrow will be different and to be honest I'm the sappy girl who cries at all halmark commercials, chick flicks and…

Does anyone know of a hotel that accepts pets(for a fee of course)? Before my daughter left, she made me promise to bring her puppy people, so she could see them after PIR.

My son left this morning and will report to Great Lakes tomorrow, March 28, 2012. I am so excited for him because he wanted this but I am so nervous about it. I know anything can happen. Does anyone know if it is really eight weeks or it just depends when he passes everything? I am so anxious inside and miss him soooo much!!!! I cant wait to hear his voice.

I found out last night that my son is with Ship 11 Division 155. I am looking for others who have someone in this division. I received the box today but I am waiting for my husband to get home so we can open it together.
