Daughter left for BC 2/21/12

My daughter Skye left for BC Feb 21st.  I received 'the box' yesterday, everything she was wearing the day she left came back to me.  I sat there and held her clothes for a long time, crying and praying for her. I can still smell her perfume on them...oh how I miss my little girl.  I am so proud and sad at the same time.

The letter from the Dept of Navy came this morning.  when I opened the envelope...I started crying again.... I was so happy to see her handwriting, she wrote:  I…

4 YEARS OF BLESSINGS AND MEMORIES OF BEING A MEMBER OF N4M

Hey all just wanted share a couple of thoughts and a video with you all...

Feb 28, marked 4 years since my first Sailor left for BC.  March 1, 4 years ago N4M was "officially" launched.  March 2, I found N4M, joined and it has been one of the best thing I have ever done.   I remember........Karen Gallagher posting a wonderful welcome on my page....celebrating 1,000 members then later 5,000 members and then when we hit the "big" 10,000 members several of us were guessing what time that…

Outside Looking In

It's 2 A.M. Friday morning. I watched him swear in yesterday morning.  I took his picture.  I smiled and told him how proud I was.  I got the treasured 15 second phone call.  I didn't cry... until now.  Rats.

I know it will get easier (I hope).…

REC'D LTR FOM SON TODAY SHIP 3 DIV 116

  • He sounded sad in his letter, tired. He said he folds his clothes and they keep
making him refold them, and he said he knows they are right and what he is there for

so he continues on...

He said he and 8 others clean the bathroom floor everynight and they call them

the "dirty 9". He say she doesn't mind, he is getting to know many people

and making may friends. I AM SICK! I think it is much harder on us moms…

Drivers license

My son is at boot camp now with a PIR of 4/20/12. He is a nuke and will hopefully be at A school in South Carolina in the spring. He turns 21 in may and needs to renew his license. Does anyone know how if this is done with the aid of the navy or does he just get one when he comes home on leave? Thanks in advance!

March 1, 2012 - The 'box'

Got the box today.  Hard to imagine that a brown corrugated box weighing less than 7 pounds can pack into it so much emotion.  Matt has been gone only 4 days and today I feel like a part of him was shipped home to me minus my 6'4" son.

I opened the box as if it were a special gift nicely wrapped that should be tended to with care.  Inside were all of Matt's belongings, everything that he wore on his back on that cold windy night 4 days ago when we said a tearful goodbye.  I took each…

"kid in a box"

zac's belongings came today.  they were sitting on the porch when i got home from work.  i don't know why but i was so scared to open them.  i did and of course starting bawling.  it's only been a few days since he left and yet i find myself still not knowing how to react.  some days i feel like crying and then other days i try to continue on with my life knowing that he is okay and doing something wonderful for everyone.  but inside i continue to think about him and replay over and over in…
