Well, Josh leaves for MEPS tomorrow and then they will take the bus to Great Lakes first thing Thursday morning. I am feeling a bit better now but I am sure that I will have my days. I am taking him and his girlfriend out to dinner tonight and am really looking forward to spending a little more time with him before he leaves.
I am hoping for a break in this weather but the forecast doesn't look very promising. We haven't had any rain in what seems like weeks and the temps are…

It is hard to believe only 3 weeks left. I am wondering if my son is passing his tests. His letters seem upbeat. He is Port Watch and in 900 division so the way I understand he may be performing at Graduation. I was wondering if anyone knows what is the Sarges meet and greet I have been reading about. When do you get the final date for graduation. I have all these questions and seems I just have more as the time gets closer
Everyday gets so much better for me, emails twice a day and now she calls!!! Her voice comforted me like a blanket comforts an infant! I couldn't help but smile extra hard and I know she could tell my lips where touching my ears lol. We talked about the job and how hot the ship is and then the most stupidest question came up....
"lace, are…

One week from today we take our son to meet his recruiter so that he can go to MEPS the next morning. In fact, I suspect, it will be one week from this time.
I'm doing the best I can to hold back the tears, or head to the bathroom, in front of him. We are trying to do things that we know we will not get to do for a while with him.
At the same time though, the tension is getting tight between my husband and I. I know that is because of our mixed feelings concerning our…

As if you really could not tell....I am extremely new to this military thing. My son is a RECRUIT and not a SAILOR. Thanks to the people filled me in. I am sure I will have a ton more questions for all the wonderful people on here who can give me a heads up on what to think. Had to Skype my brother in law in Saudi who is retired Air Force to give me a little bit of an idea on what to expect. He tells me I will be fine, and Grant will be great. I just keep that in mind as I wander…

I got my first email yesterday !!! yaaaaaaay me!! and it was like the next best thing next to heaven! It literally picked me up and wiped all my tears away. It probably didn't help that shes enjoying the deployment and the experience. We both promised to make the best of this situation and be positive and here I am with swollen eyes. We've always had GREAT GREAT communication and I felt like I lost that until the email. So…

Today I woke up at 5:30. By 6:30 I was up. I am a teacher and on summer break, and it's Saturday. Why couldn't I sleep?! I fixed some breakfast, and at 7:30 I went for a walk/ jog. I'll admit I am not a little girl, and am working to get in shape. I pushed myself to do more than I have in the past, and found I really can do more than I think I expected. It is what I always told my son in the past when he wanted to give up. At one point I had almost decided to start walking, and told myself…

Name's Kayla. Boyfriend Sean is in boot-camp right now. We both decided this path in Sept. and surprisingly no regrets yet lol. We've been together about a year and a half. He's in boot camp so what am I doing with my life besides waiting for a letter most the time. I'm applying for a job and starting my sophomore year in college for my communication arts major in Aug. Sean and I hung out almost everyday that's if his video game addiction didn't get in the way. The time away from him can be…

What can you tell me about AO school training and beyond.

My son has been gone for over a week now to Great Lakes. I have been told that I will get a box with his clothes and other items that they ship back along with his contact information and address. I haven't gotten it yet and every day it's harder when I get home and see I haven't gotten it. I have letters ready for him, but have no idea where to send them. How long does it take to get 'The Box"?
I'm starting to panic that maybe it got lost or something.

My son left for Great Lakes on Wed., June 20th. I received the 3 min. phone call in the early morning hours of June 21st. Its so hard not knowing what is going on and how they are making out!!! I think I'm doing fine, then I see or read something that reminds me of him and I start crying......can't wait till these become tears of Joy and Pride for him!

I am not entirely sure how to feel right now. My son leaves for Basic Training in 6 days and, quite frankly, I am a mess. I am so extremely proud of who he is and the choices that he has made for himself but I am also very scared. I am going to miss him like crazy but then again, I have already missed him for a long time. He lives with his dad and for the past 2 years I lived an hour away from him. I recently (about 2 weeks ago) moved back "home" to Columbus, Indiana but now he is getting…
