Rookie Navy Mom

My son is two weeks into Boot Camp and I'm sure all is well. It's the first kid to leave the nest and I didn't think I would miss him so much. Some of my friends said it's like college. I beg to differ. In College you can skype, email, get to them if you need to and they can do the same. So no it is not the same. Technology is a blessing and a curse, we've gotten used to instant communication. I will say the first thing I did was clean his room and all those clothes that he did not wear for… Continue

4 ticket Rule for PIR

HI! To all of you who have graduated: Do you all know how strict they are about that rule? My son is scheduled to graduate in several weeks, but we're planning now. Both sets of my son's grandparents want to attend. Do people get around that somehow? Or is it set in stone? Thanks!

Hi, Everyone, I was reading some blogs where you all were talking about maybe seeing your SR on a face book page. Is their a boot camp face book page or are they posted to individual face books or what?  I'm confused.  (So what else is new!!) Thanks, Pam

Please tell me they did not throw away my letters because of me writing I love you on the back of the Envelope

Oh my Goodness.  I am now almost in tears from one of these previous posts.  Nothing said that we could not write on the outside of the envelope.  On the back of each letter I would write Day 1 Love your or Day 2 miss you in small letters at the seal.  Are you telling me they threw away all of those letters.  :-(  that was a whole weeks worth of memories.  Please someone tell me this is not the case, that they only do that in extreme circumstances!

My daughter

My daughter left for Basic this past Monday, July 25th. When she called after her arrival, she sounded distraught.....I am new to this page and branch of service, so forgive me if I ask alot of questions. How long till she calls again? How long til I get her address? How long til the box gets mailed?

FOREVER YOUNG

May the good Lord be with you

Down every road you roam

And may sunshine and happiness

surround you when you're far from home

And may you grow to be proud

Dignified and true

And do unto others

As you'd have done to you

Be courageous and be brave

And in my heart you'll always stay

Forever…

The waiting is the hardest part...

You take it on faith, you take it to the heart,

The waiting is the hardest part...

Tom Petty is a wise man. I'm trying to get used to waiting, as I can tend to be very impatient, a hallmark of our society in general these days. I did finally get a 30 second phone call from my husband on Sunday. He called to say that he had to ditch the piece of paper on which…

I finally have an address!

My husband ended up having to go down to the recruiters office to get it the address.  But I finally have one.  Now I can mail all the letters I have written in the past week!  I am hoping this week is a little better than the last.  Adjusting to a new normal has not been easy.
