So my daughter was home for the weekend, it was so awsome, and then she leaves... I hate when she leaves and I so love when she is home.  She is only 6hrs away so it is not so bad of a drive, so I guess I shouldn't complain, I just miss her so much.  When will I ever get used to her not being here.  I want her to come home but hate when she leaves.... MEPs

Well, after two trips home; after being asked to be ready to head to Kansas City, Greg finally got to go to MEPs. He signed his APACT and will begin DEP. His BC date is 15 Feb 2012. This will be our second family member in the Navy! We get to meet with the recruiter on Wednesday so he can give us a run down of what to expect from here on out.

My baby - is going to be gone and doing his thing. I think I will need a stronger support group!

I got a phone call!

I was so happy my son called from boot camp on Wednesday.  It was really good to hear voice. I was suprised that I didn't cry.  We got to talk for about 5 minutes. It made me feel good just to hear his voice and the fact he sounded so good.  Now I just can't wait to see him at graduation.

Call from my son

I was so happy to finally hear from him. He called on Wednesday, and I'm surprised that I didn't even cry. I guess it's because I knew that he is alive. He asked for me to send him some information so we got to talk about 5-7 minutes. I just sent him some letters, we had been writing, on Thursday. When do you think he'd receive them? I also added a phone card & some pics of me & his lil brother.

Still waiting....

I thought for sure that I would get my letter today. But I didn't... and instead I got an unexpected phone call.

I got to hear from my husband. He called to tell me that he needed a form of I.D. sent asap. He couldn’t say much and before I could fully grasp who I was talking to, he had to go...and that was it. It all feels so surreal. ..I keep starring at the phone hoping he'll call again.

I know that 'no news is good news', but not knowing anything is so miserable...Please…

He left today

My son left today for bootcamp.  What can I say?  I feel like there is something missing.  He is not here to talk to or even just set and watch tv with.  I know that everyone goes through this when their son or daughter leaves, but you don't know what it is like until you have been through it.  Although I know that it will get easier, it feels like it never will.

I miss my son and I want hime to come home, but that is being selfish.  He is doing what he wants to do and what he has…

Quick questions...

How many people are allowed to attend graduation per sailor? and secondly, do they get time afterwards to be with family or report directly to A-school or 1st assignments? Thanks!!

My how time flies...

Wow! It's been 2 very fast months since my last entry! My son has graduated high school, celebrated this past weekend with friends and family and he has been attending his DEP meetings/PT. I don't think he could be more excited to start the next chapter in his life. Even with all he is leaving behind, so many people who love him and will miss him dearly, he clearly wants to challenge himself, explore new… Continue

Got the 'box' yesterday!!!!

Well our son's box arrived exactly a week after he left for boot camp. It was bitter sweet getting to see what he wore the night he left, as weird as that may sound, not having contact with him has been really hard. BUT 1 down, 7 to go, and now just waiting on the PIR letter and his address. I've already written him a stack of letters, can't wait to mail them out and start receiving mail from him. The initial 'sting' is slowly coming to an end, though I did cry when I saw the FED EX man pull… Continue

Wish we could see a group picture

Do they just randomly take group pictures of some of the ships and divisions. I sure wish they would think seriously about posting a pic of Ship 07 Div. 245.

winging gifts

My son got his wings in May 2011 in Pensacola. I was at a loss as to what gift to give an officer who just got his wings. I am glad that I found this site because the gift ideas were quite helpful, especially the winging set from Larry Cleveringa. The beautiful cherry framed set includes follow on aircraft, pictures of 2 other aircraft they have flown, 1 set pilot wings, and custom engraving (information about your pilot). The craftsmenship and care put into this set is evident when you see…

Day 1

So I'm considering this as Day 1 of my boyfriend's boot camp adventure, because the last 2 days have been travel days and he's been able to call me every chance he got.

I've been through A LOT in my life and I think today is by far the hardest. It's the first day I actually don't get to hear his voice or even get a stupid text message from him. I can't even tell you how many times I've picked up my phone to text him, remembering just in time that by the time he can…

Aloha!

Received a letter from my daughter informing us that is is okay (thank you Jesus!)  She informed us with her  PIR date along with her ship/division# However, I still have not received the official letter.  Should I be concerned?  Would like to make travel arrangements but I read somewhere to wait.

Anxiously  waiting for the Office Letter!
