Phone Call

Got a phone call from baby girl last night, she sounded so upbeat so far so good, they haven't gotten to the rough part yet but she's looking forward to getting through it.  They want to pull one of her wisdoms but she's not sure if they are going to wait till she get to A school.  It felt so good to hear her voice, I know now for sure she is ok and that feels good.  She was advanced to E2 and looking forward to being advanced to E3, I can't say enough how proud I am of my baby girl for she…

First Letter

I got my daughters first letter yesterday was so excited, so far she's ok just a little homesick, she says she may have to get her wisdom teeth out but I hope not she just got her braces off last month and her ortho was keeping an eye on them.  Other than that she's ready to breeze through these weeks, preparing herself for when it gets rough.  Looking forward to that first phone call.

Waiver denied for astigmatism

Hi, my daughter was asked to go back to MEPS 3 times for her vision. 1st time the MEPS eye doctor said she had to return back a 2nd time because she has astigmatism and they want to make sure she does not have keratoconus. So she went back a 2nd time to MEPS a week later and the eye doctor said she had to return a 3rd time because he thought she may have early signs of keratoconus. So back to MEPS she went a 3rd time and the eye doctor said she did NOT have keratoconus but that she would need a… Continue

Proud Navy Mom

My son just graduated on July 14th, I am so proud of him. I come from a huge family and there was about 19 of us who got to greet him after the ceremony. He was so happy to see everyone. While he was in boot camp I wrote him everyday, he says it helped out a lot to get mail. All 19 of us went to the airport to see him off and all I could do is cry, he is now in San Antonio, Texas. It is easier because he has access to his cell phone so I could just text him or call him. He has tons of…

so as her mom I'm going to support her life choices, I did my crying away from her but we did share a mommy daughter moment the night before where she told me the hardest part is leaving me.  It's

I still remember when he left for boot camp, and I was a nervous wreck!!  I worried about him, is he ok, will he pass all the tests, etc.  Graduation came & I was so proud!! I'm still proud of him.  He has grown since he has joined the Navy.  As of July 7th, he had left for deployment.  Do I know where his ship going?  NO!!  All I know he's deployed for 7 months! …

Sandboxx

Are there any other members on here using the Sandboxx app.  I downloaded it and have used it 3 times but from the letters from my child she hasn't mentioned getting anything yet from them.  I'm just curious if any other recruits have mentioned receiving their Sandboxx letters.

Time is ticking...

Today we take my future sailor down to San Diego. Tomorrow morning she swears in and is off on the next chapter of her life. I have been feeling anxiety off and on and I'm not really sure if I should share my emotions or hide them. I have had other military moms who have been through this tell me "whatever you do, don't let her see you cry. Wait till she's gone." I've been told that if they see you're upset that it makes the process for them in boot camp and being away from home harder. Any…
