This is my first blog but hopefully not my last. My husband retired after 20 years and is a disabled Vietnam vet., It is nice to be in the company of such a great group of mom and dads.

My son has PIR on Oct 4th. He made out his guest list which included myself, his dad, his grandfather, and my niece. Now my niece (who is also in the Navy) can't make graduation. I'm afraid it is too late to change his guest list. I'm asking if anyone knows for sure that if I brought my sister in my nieces place if she will be allowed in. It would break my heart that he has 4 seats/guests but one will be empty because my niece is now "underway". This wouldn't even be an issue if the…

My son sent his Dad this PIR information letter that contains the letter from the Commanding Officer , his address, graduation date, list of people attending PIR etc. His Dad photocopied and forwarded to me He says it didn't contain a parking pass. I have seen in various publications that there should be a parking pass for when we get to the PIR. We will have different cars and I don't want to rely on my ex husband to get in. Do I need a parking pass to get on the base? We have a little…

I thought that my birthday was complete yesterday when I received a phone call from my son. Then, he wished me happy birthday (he remembered!). I was over the moon. Today, I came downstairs to two cards. One was from my husband and younger son. The other was from my SR! He had gotten me a card before he left saying that he wished he could have been here for my birthday and that I will always be in his heart. I immediately burst into tears. I love that boy so damned much!

I am over the moon! We received a letter from our son yesterday and I have to share. He went into the Navy as "Undesignated" , not knowing what he wanted to do job wise. He figured he'd be on a ship, doing what ever job was needed. Well in his letter yesterday, he let us know he has been chosen for "Ceremonial Guards", the "Face of the Navy" as he calls it. He will be stationed in Washington DC, participating in ceremonies from inaugurations to Navy funerals at Arlington National cemetery,…
