Stephanie's Graduation

I can not believe how fast the time has gone since my daughter left for boot camp, I thought I would be crying and sad all the time but the truth is it went by so fast and now she graduates next Friday, I am so proud of her and am so looking forward in spending what time we have after graduation with her.

Looking forward to our grandson's graduation on the 30th!

Any advice?  We will fly in Thursday and be there nice and early Friday.  Are a little confused about how much we will

see him after Friday as he goes to Florida for training.  One report is that they are leaving Saturday and another person

says "no", they leave on Sunday.  I guess we will stay through Sunday....just in case.  A Mammaw

A school closures

Our son's PIR date is 12/21. I have been told that the A schools close for the holiday. Does this mean he can come home?

Attending graduation, does anyone know how long we are able to see our son.

We just received our letter from our son and his PIR date is 12/21/12. Will we be able to visit him for a extended period or is it a drive by like I seen in some other posts?

Home for Christmas

We just booked the flight for our son to come home from Pensaola for 2 weeks starting Dec 21st!!!  Can't wait to finally be able to spend some time with him other than the "drive-by" we had after PIR in September.  Hopefully many, many of you will be able to do the same with your sailors!!!

Another one??? I'm supremely blessed...

Last week, my son Austin, who is a senior this year, informed us that he also wants to enlist in the Navy. WOW! Can I be more proud? Then...wow...

Can my heart handle another one???

Yes, yes, it can!!!

Austin filled out the initial paperwork and will go to MEPS in the next couple of weeks.

He will leave for boot camp during the summer after he graduates from high school.

GO NAVY!!!…

Good news, not so good news for me

Received a wonderful 52 minute call from our son today! Sooooo good to hear his voice and know that he has settled in and actually enjoying BC. He said he was in Division 906, but still wasn't given his form letter to fill out and send and probably would be another week before he gets it. He also said that his PIR date would be 12/28...that is the not so good news for me. Although I am proud and happy for him, the one thing that kept me strong was being able to have him home for Christmas. …

Proud grandma- "dropping sad"

Not completely over my disappointment and frustration, but this quote attributed to Alexander Graham Bell made me focus. My 18 year old wanted to be sailor is wiser than his blank blank year old grandma. The quote:
When one door closes, another opens, but we often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door that we do not see the one that has opened for us. " Our sailor is doing well, happy to have his phone back and looking forward to this next phase of his Navy career.

A Few Prayers for comfort

A Prayer to Heal Stress
Heavenly Father, please grant me peace of mind

Keeping myself busy waiting for that precious letter

I believe my postman has come to think I am expecting something important, as he brings the mail a little earlier. It was another heart ache day of no letter arrival. Trying to keep myself occupied, I decided to rearrange some books and came across the book my son wrote and had published for when he was in eighth grade. Wow, who knew that beloved book would come to mean even more to more to me this very day. It was almost as if he were saying "remember this"? It was all about our bond as…

passport

My son leaves for Guam soon and his father insists he needs a passport.  My son says he checked and was told that he did NOT. He flies out of Boston to Tokyo and then to Guam.

He was told he just needs his Navy ID.

Can anyone confirm this for me?

Thanks.
