My First Thanksgiving As A Navy Mom

So here it is, two days before Thanksgiving. It's lovely weather here in Nor Cal, chilly, clear nights, bright sunshine days. My mom decided to have Thanksgiving at her house this year, I offered to help her cook and she said she has everything taken care of but if she needs me she'll call. So I should be estatic about not having to cook and all that. Well I am, not that I mind doing all the cooking and everything that goes with Thanksgiving, I enjoy it very much. But, I'm also sad because my… Continue

What are you Thankful For?

During this Thanksgiving week, I am missing my sailor. I am so thankful he is doing well, and I am so proud of him. He has deployed and this will be the first Thanksgiving since he enlisted that I won't see him. May not even get to talk to him! I am so thankful he found his place with the Navy! Tell me, what are you Thankful for?

Comment Order On Blogs Reversed

Due to popular demand, I've switch the order of comments on Blogs back to the old setting. Comments will now appear in chronological order - so you can read them in the order they were posted (much easier).

Still working on the page number issue - I think it's obvious from all the feedback I've received that everyone prefers the old format much better (myself included). Let's keep our fingers crossed that Ning listens to us!

I wanted to share with you everything they have announced and would love to hear your opinion in the comments section below. Here we go...

Happy Veteran's Day!

Just wanted to take an opportunity to thank all who serve our country! I am so proud to count my son among the ranks when offering my gratitude. My 11 and 12-year-old daughters each responded to the Patriot's Pen question, "When is the right time to honor our military heroes?" I am including the responses as tribute to all who serve.

"Everyone is sad and still as they honor our fallen soldier, Specialist George Cauley, who was killed in Afghanistan on October 11th,… Continue

Ning Gift Store Application To Be Removed

A few weeks ago I posted a blog about the Gift Store Application potentially being removed. After being reviewed by the Navy, a decision has been made to move forward with removal.

The Navy can't accept money - nor were they- but they didn't want you to believe they were somehow making money off of N4M members. As we currently can't chose to only offer free gifts or control the cost of… Continue

My PIR weekend Oct. 30th

Okay, here's my story: Thurs. pm arrive HSV airport for direct flight to ORD in plenty of time for flight departing at 3;26p. Twenty minutes prior to departure time, gate agent says there's going to be a delay (mechanics on the way) don't know how long. This is the last flight out of HSV to ORD. My first thought is "I might have a 10 hr. drive ahead of me since I'm not missing PIR". Fortunately, flight leaves with a 45min delay. Arrive ORD, bags make it, grab shuttle to rental car. Rental car… Continue
