After Boot Camp

So my son writes me and wants me to bring his game system, tv and all his video games to him after graduation. How much supervision is there going to be? I don't want to bring all this stuff because it will distract him fro his studying. All that game stuff was a huge problem durning high school. I don't want to encourage it at all. Any ideas of how life will be at bootcamp?

My last text from my daughter on 11/3/2010 waiting @ Airport.

I was clearing my text messages on my cell and had to share with you all, my last text from my daughter @ the Airport on Wednesday …”Hey mom, words cant explain enough how much of an amazing mother u are, no one can replace u ever. You would do anything for me and my sisters. You may not feel at times your doing enough for us as a single mom, but that’s the opposite, you are my role model, you’re the most strongest independent and passionate person I know. You… Continue

Centennial of Naval Air Dominance

http://www.navy.mil/swf/mmu/mmplyr.asp?id=15151

Great footage of Naval Aviation and a possible replication of the original first flight to be in San Diego.

Also, last night the military channel had ~6 shows back to back on various subjects of interest - Carriers, The making of the USS RR and also the "at Sea" series. These were new ones I had not seen before and showed completely different topics -…

My baby boy leaves me in 3 day's to become a man!! and i'm losing it.:( :) s.o.s.

I can relate very much to Chris mom , I am losing it , I can't sleep and am so up and down but am hiding it... Iam so proud but yet still sad! yes "he will never be the same" and as that is a wonderful thing I still am seeing not only a chapter end in his life but a whole new book begin !and as we laugh and remincie, joke about the silly things he has done and talk about the awsome things God has done in his life we just still are left with the reality that he will be so far away and my little… Continue

My son is not missing me so much anymore

Wow,how the tone has changed in his letters. He is sounding much better and looking forwarding to moving in his room. He has made friends and his didvision has earned a flag. He is so much more up beat. He even says that he is not missing us so much now.

November

So my little girl is just about through her A School and heading for the east coast to her duty station... Not only am I extremely proud of her but so very impressed with the Navy as well! I grew up an Army brat, made it through testing to become an officer only to have my medical kick me out, then married an Army man. I have to say, I am very impressed with the Navy machine. A whole different animal but one so much more focused on their soldiers instead of their politics. Very nice.

I am grateful to have found this site. Your right, I am not alone

during this difficult time. Sad yet happy...My 18yr old daughter is

waiting at the airport for boot camp today. I've been a basket case,

each time I see an item of hers laying around the house. Last night, at

the hotel saying I said good bye.... the best way I can describe this feeling

is ..."someone has kidnapped my child" I cant hold her if she is scared

or nervous…

He left loving the Navy and now is having second thoughts

First let me say what a stressful weekend PIR was.

My husband wanted to be in the Navy so bad. He picked his rate and 4 weeks later left for BC. In all his letters home, he said that BC was easy and that he was just ready to be done.

The last 2 weeks of letters I got the the tone changed. He said he just couldnt fight the overwhelming feeling of missing me. Well come to find out the last 2 weeks of BC during any down time, he would just sit and not talk to…

My Journal as a Navy Mom

Met with my son Zach's recruiter today with his dad.
Zach has only been talking about joining for out 3 weeks on and off. He has a friend going in, in February. He wanted to join the buddy system but it isn't working out, so instead of going in as a Bulls team he will be a White Sox team. Funny how that just happens to be his favorite team.

I really don't know how I feel. Everything that I know about the Navy is so right for him. The benefits the family atmosphere, all that they…

Tears....

.....just as my 8 year old was getting ready to walk out our door to Trick or Treat I read a post on the Pensacola Group about the most recent Air Crew suicide. I did not know the young man or his family and yet I could feel the sadness growing inside me. I read how he seemed like a happy guy, doing well in his training. He had just gotten an "A" on a test two days earlier and had also been out with friends the night before. Nobody knew that anything was wrong and we still have not heard what… Continue

Today I Met Some Angels!!

Leading a PIR group is for the most part very fun! Soon, this Friday, we will converge on Great Lakes to watch with pride as our loved ones Pass in Review. We will shed a few tears, smile with overwhelming awe, and our hearts will be filled with gladness as we lay hands on those we love after several weeks of limited contact.

However, during these many weeks several of our recruits have been hurt, found to have prior health issues, and other situations which have forced them…
