My daughter left July 25th for Great Lakes, Ill. She was excited and nervous all at the same time. I got the 10 second phone call from her stating she made it and that I will get a package within 3 weeks. I wanted more time with her to see how things are going, is she doing ok. I told her I loved her and that we were proud of her. She has been out of high school for almost one and half years, so she is exactly a baby, she is 19, but…

This weekend has been filled with hugs and stares of my young man that will be leaving in 8 days. I have so much to do and yet I just want to watch his every move....as if he is that 1 year old taking his first steps. In a way, he is....he is trying so hard to be the man he should be and taking those first steps into adulthood.…

My youngest left for boot camp on July 2nd. I am very proud of him and supported his decision to join the Navy. Even signed the papers as soon as he turned 17 so that he would get in DEP and start learning as much as soon as possible. He has a girlfriend who I really like and she is so supportive of his decision to be a sailor and unlike so many young kids in love they understand that they can have goals and lives outside of each other. They are both very mature. When my son arrived to…

My daughter left to start her basic training. She left for Great Lakes center on Wednesday, July 25, 2012. She was very excited and nervous. I am just plain nervous about it. I miss her terribly already. Not sure if I will have a melt down, because I did not have it the day she left. I did cry, but only if someone else cried and then I was alright. It is weird not having her home. Even our dog (Bentley) misses her. He is just moping around and yesterday when I was cleaning her room,…

ContinueHow is it, that a BOX and a LETTER can bring on so many mixed emotions at once, lol!! From getting the box to getting the letter today, my emotions ran crazy.......excitement, adrenlen rush, relieved, sad, happy, teary, and many more to say the least. This child that I carried for 9 months and raised for 18, is now an adult and making huge decisions......and he has left, in search of the many things that will begin to mold him for his future. My son left college and joined the Navy. He is at boot camp right now and we just got his first student loan bill today. He said his student loan would get paid. Does anyone know how that works? Do we have to pay it and he will get reimbursed? Does anyone know who I would contact to find out?

Countdown: 44 Days till Boot Camp
So, I suppose its time to begin facing the fact that soon my baby will be leaving for the U.S. Navy. Up till now, I've basically tried to keep my mind busy learning new things about boot camp, A-School, and Nuke School. If I keep busy, I don't have to face that he…

My daughter just left for basic training on Tuesday. I haven't heard from her yet. :( When she arrived in Great Lakes she was allowed to call however she called her boyfriend. He did not contact us that she was okay. I'm so worried that graduation information is going to go to him rather than us. Has anyone experienced this? How do I handle it? We are close as mom and daughter but the boyfriend is trying to keep us away.

I am so new to this life that some days all I can do is cry. My sailor starts boot camp in December. I guess I am just so frustrated because I know nothing and I am not sure where to begin. That, and we are both only 18. We're still kids. Yet here we are getting married in October and preparing for a life of moving and waiting. On top of that, I have to balance college.
My sailor didn't tell me he was considering the Navy until we were already engaged. All I did that whole day…
