Missing my son

Hello everyone!

I'm so glad I found this. You all have given so much helpful information that I've been reading so far. My son arrived at BC on 3/6 and this week I've been really down and miss him something terrible along with so many others here at home. I can't wait to hear from him and be able to write.

MEPS - Career Classifier?

Our son is doing MEPS in two steps.  He took ASVAB at MEPS a couple weeks ago and is scheduled for physical, career classification 2nd week in April.

Because he wanted to know ahead of time, he had his color vision tested this week.  Result was mild red/green impairment.  Doctor said good chance he will pass MEPS color vision exam, but he might not.

Doing a lot of research on rates.  Approx. two thirds of rates are not available to future sailors with color vision…

Missing My Baby Boy

Good morning all moms!

I'm fairly new at this, as my son just went in on 3-6-2018.

I received the box on 3-9-2018, and of course the scripted phone call.  No form letter, or communication since that night, and I'm literally falling apart, and have no idea what I would do w/o all the love and encouragement you all share.

I hope to be better educated though reading all the post/blogs.

I pray for you and your children daily, and am sending warm hugs to all the…

Feeling like a bad mom

Good morning to all the wonderful moms out there. My son has been stationed away for more than 7 months. Because of where he is I get a phone call or a message when ever he can. It’s really hard when you are not hearing from your kid and knowing we talked everyday. His schedule changes all the time and the comfort was that in June he would be back here and stationed where I can travel often to see him. But now that’s not happening he said maybe the end of the year. He has changed a lot since…

Today starts our journey - MEPS Baltimore

Today (February 21, 2018) my just turned 18 year old son reported to MEPS for his delayed entry processing.  He was escorted down to Baltimore yesterday by his recruiter and 2 other recruits.  They checked into the hotel about 4.  He was excited to meet new female friend at the hotel who was also going to be processed.  They went to the mall and walked around, got a bite to eat, before returning back to the hotel.  He text me this morning about 4am, said that he was going to get a shower,…

Travel using Sandboxx app??

Has anyone used Sandboxx to book their travel?? Our son is at BC in Great Lakes and we are trying to make our travel arrangements for February 2018. Sandboxx claims that if our graduation date is changed, there is no rebooking fee. If it is canceled, then we will receive 100% of the base cost of the ticket. Advice is greatly appreciated!!!

MorningSun

Hi MorningSun:

It will take awhile for you to get mail my FS left on 11/9 and I did not get anything until 11/19/2017, and

that was just his address to write to.  He did not get any letters from me (20) in all until 12/2/17.  All I can say is be patient.  If all goes right you will get a call after three weeks.

Hope this helps!

Christmas Packages

My daughter left November 28th.  I have sent letters daily.  Have not received anything back as of yet.  Wondering if anyone knows if we can send them a Christmas care package and what we are allowed to put in it?  I was hoping to hear from her with this info but time is of the essence now.  Thanks for input regarding this.

Graduation set for Jan 5, 2018

My FS letter said his graduation day was 1/5/2017.  It is now 23 days away, and I have not made any reservations, in fear that he may be held back.  Does anyone know if there is a time frame in which we should have received notification, that he is being held back?  All flights are non refundable and hotels too.  Not rich, can't afford to loose money. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

What a crazy 24 hours!

My son was supposed to ship out mid-January, 2018, but he got a call from his Section Chief on Monday telling him he was on stand-by to ship out on Wednesday . . . this Wednesday!  Then he got the call about 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday that he needed to be at the recruiter's office (about 30 miles away) and then to the hotel (about another 30 miles away) by 6:00 p.m. Tuesday night.  My son called me at work, I said "Bye!" to my very understanding bosses and co-workers, texted my husband (a teacher…
