News-ish stuff:
(1) We have a new masthead. heh. No more "Dove Soap" Looking moms.
(2) Also, update on the political/hot topic forum... A N4M's member has kindly offered to help me write the ground rules for it (so give us a day or so to hammer it out).
(3) Swag... I think I posted something yesterday, but the proposal for N4M swag is being finalized and sent in this week to our Navy Contacts.
Okay- 2 things I am noticing...
(1) Picture…

Allllllllright. Just to follow up with the multiple PM’s that I have received and chatter on the boards dealing with this RDC issue.
The issue being- (from the moms) that the RDC’s were taking in the book camp recruits behind closed doors and showing them their mom’s page. Yesterday we made some calls… and here is our update directly from our Navy representative:
“The issue of confidentiality and the RDC’s at Recruit Training Command is being resolved. The CMD Master…

Hello everyone! Yesterday we added a poll to the main page. We are getting so many visitors to the site… that my group and I are wondering- why you are here with us today? Please note: It’s the one thing on this site that non-members can actually respond to. And we hope everyone takes the time to vote and tell us… because heh, we are curious! Thank you! Sincerely, Catherine

I need the night off.
(Really.)
And though I am wondering if my gmail account can handle all the rss feeds… It’s something I have to do tonight.
(And it may or may not be to mourn that the Tigers are working through their 7th straight loss… or it may or may not be to spend some much needed time with my hubby and to enjoy this spring day).
I have so many things that I know I need to do tomorrow… publicly talk about this RDC issue… start a political/hot topic…

Hello Everyone:
I'm not going to lie. I felt horrified today when I read a blog
(which I ended up deleting) from somebody made it a point to make members feel uncomfortable for how they may expresses things. This is my response:
It's utterly unacceptable!
Mother’s…. and non- mothers are dealing with this
Navy experience differently. And they view life a little differently than you will...this isn’t going to change. In fact, this blog (that I…

Hello Everyone!
Who knew that Wednesday’s could be so good? After multiple requests,
we have added the chat function to our site! : )
In this page you can talk with other N4M members on “real time”.
Please note that: (1) What is typed will be seen by all members and (2) Conversations will NOT be saved to be monitored at a later time. So, keep it civil (pretty please), start typing and press enter. There may be a small time delay.

Hello Everyone!
There has been some chatter on the boards (and in my PM’s) that I wanted to address.
I have made some ground rules, but I haven’t made official blogs about them, and I would like to do that now. The comment I am using is one I read recently, BUY by no means is this member alone in writing these concerns or thoughts- I am using it as an example because it’s well written and covers all the issues that need to be talked about.
RULE 1: You may not bash… Continue

Ahhh, Tone. Pitch. Attitude.
It’s one of the
toughest things to “write and get through” to somebody. And in communities like ours, where emotions can run high- there is
plenty of room for tone-miscommunications. And when it does happen, it’s hard not be hurt or upset about it.
The good news is, there is a way to help each other understand “how we are trying to say it”. One of our Members, Steve’s mom, talks about her way to add icons, and photos to her posts in…

Hey Everyone:
So I’m going to be adding some “featured” threads on the front page. I am going to start doing this, because I really want
everyone to put his or her two cents in. (And if you have three more cents to make it a nickel, then that is fine also- ha, ha!) :)
I’m still keeping the “how did you find us”… because- I’ll always want to know how you found us. :)
Today’s post is from a mom who has a son thinking about joining the Navy.
Thank you, in advance,…

Hi Everyone :)
So, as we grow bigger and bigger I find myself becoming a bit more "conservative" when it comes to photos, videos… and yes, even content. I know, I know- I feel like I am being a prude…ish jerk. But I’m doing it for safety, privacy and, the community’s best interest in mind (IE in making sure that everybody feels comfortable here). Before I get e-mails on this– Please let me offer up the some solutions.
PHOTOS:
I need to be more selective on what goes on the…

I feel like the R&B/Pop artist Beyonce in one of her recent songs where she sings… “Mama let me upgrade you” Hehe : )
Alright, here at N4M’s, we’re a growing community so there will be changes and bumps along the way. One of those changes happened last night. Our server is is making some changes to fix some bugs and kinks. You will see some changes in your formats. I mean-
ALL the bells and whistles are still there--- they are just re-arranged.
Please don’t hesitate to… Continue

Okay, let me keep this simple:
“Everybody love everybody” – Jackie Moon in the movie Semi- Pro
This is a community were
we want everyone to feel comfortable. I understand that there will be times where you will want to disagree with another member. So if you get upset, and you write it on the public boards, note that hundreds of others will read it, including new moms who kids are thinking about joining the navy. Is that the impression we want…

Hi Navy Family : )
All right, I am getting down on my knees and I am begging you
(from the bottom of my heart) to
PLEASE all start using the search function more often...actually- use it BEFORE you even want to start a new discussion. I feel like I like I’m having some major cases of déjàvu. We have so many GREAT conversations already started on hotels, and empty nests, PIR, etc, etc, etc… that I really need everyone to
search before you ask (pretty…

Hello Ladies and Gentleman:
So as we near 500, we have many duplicate names. (IE, We have 10 Lisa's, 6 Karen's, 6 Sue's, and 9 Debbie’s). I am asking you to please make your name unique (pretty please... I am starting to get a little confused reading the forums... and sometimes I can't tell what Karen or Lisa I am reading about.) I don't mind if you have your first name still in your display name... I just need more than that. You don't have to use your last name...just something that you…

Hey Everyone!
Okay- I wanted to make a blog about this to spread the word as fast as possible (and it’s good news!).
There was some chatter that RTC may be holding off visitors for graduation due to heighten security. But I am here to tell you to breath easy. And relax. Hehe.
For sailors that are graduating this weekend, everything planned to go on as normal. My cohorts have told me that there IS NOT heightened security (It may of gone up around the time when VP Dick…
