OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Follow this link for OPSEC Guidelines:

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed.  Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.

**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Specific information on this policy change will be provided in the coming days and weeks.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your support.

RTC Graduation

**UPDATE 6/23/2022 - MASK MANDATE IS LIFTED -  Vaccinations still required

Please note! Changes to this guide happened in October 2017. Tickets are now issued for all guests, and all guests must have a ticket to enter base. A separate parking pass is no longer needed to drive on to base for parking.

Please see changes to attending PIR in the PAGES column. The PAGES are located under the member icons on the right side.

New Year's Traditions...

traditions Pictures, Images and Photos

It's here! We waited all year for it!! Another New Year's Day!

Does your family have a special New Year's Day tradition that they enjoy or celebrate? My hubby would be quick to say...FOOTBALL!!!

But I'm thinking of other traditions, like I knew this one family that would cook pinto beans all day and it was supposed to bring good luck all year. Another one did something with… Continue

A thank you from the USS Rodney M. Davis...

I wanted to say on behalf of all RODNEY M. DAVIS Sailors, THANK YOU for ALL of the cards.

I know that you told me before they arrived of the quantity, but I know that I really did not realize the quality. The cards arrived onboard on 24 December as we arrived inport Vasco Nunez de Balboa, Panama. I had called away an All Hands working party to bring the mail and other stores (food and parts) onboard. The first truck on the pier to unload was the mail. The bags started to get… Continue

Reflections of a Blackshoe

Reflections of a Blackshoe by VAdm Harold Koenig, USN

I like the Navy.

I like standing on the bridge wing at sunrise with salt

spray in my face and clean ocean winds whipping in from the four

quarters of the globe -the ship beneath me feeling like a living thing

as her engines drive her through the sea.

I like the sounds of the Navy - the pierc ing trill of the

boatswains pipe, the syncopated clangor of the ship's bell on… Continue

A great gift to give...

red cross Pictures, Images and Photos

As the holiday season approaches us, the need for blood donation always increases. Perhaps one of the best gifts we can give this year is to donate blood.

To learn more blood donation opportunities, visit or

call 1-800-GIVE-LIFE (1-800-448-3543).

We all expect blood to be there for us, but barely a fraction of those who can give do. Yet sooner or later,… Continue

Who do you fight with for the wishbone?

thanksgiving or happy thanksgiving Pictures, Images and Photos

Yes, the reality of our sailor not being home for Thanksgiving hit our daughter today. She wanted to know WHO she was going to fight with on the wishbone? Our son and daughter enjoyed this tradition for years, so do we save the wishbone until he returns home again…

I used to LOVE my mailman...

mailman Pictures, Images and Photos

Our mailman is safe again - the fine art of letter writing seems to leave our sailors ...when they leave boot camp.

We love hearing about your first letter or phone call. It gives us "seasoned" moms a chance to relive those days!! Just want to THANK all the new boot camp moms that continue to share their joys and fears with us as your sons and daughters move thru boot… Continue
