I love the pic of you and your SR, but there may be people lurking who don't need to see it. Make the changes below.

I bet you'll get a letter tomorrow for sure.  This letter is the first I've heard from my son since the "I'm Here" call.  We live WAY FAR AWAY...across the country in Nevada.  We will have to fly there and we plan on arriving on Thursday afternoon.  4 hours isn't that far away at all, you could leave in the morning and arrive in the afternoon.  I would think that your SR is flying out to Pensacola after BC based on his rating.  So I would suggest you arrive on Thursday and go to Sarge's Meet and Greet that night so you can meet others in our PIR group and then PIR and then you can spend the day with your SR on Friday, but he has to be back at his ship that evening.  Then he will probably fly out Saturday, but you can meet him at the airport and stay with him til he flies out.  They usually get to the airport about 2 or 3 am.

Hi LizzyABH...my son left on 7/1 and his is Ship 11 Div 267.  I got my first REAL letter today and it was dated 7/12 inside so that means my son wrote that letter on Sunday.  He also included a letter he wrote on the 4th of July.  I think I got my form letter last Wednesday so I'm hoping that I will always get my letters on Wednesdays since they are my days off.

Make changes 3 and 4 at the bottom of OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) (clickable link). It's not a good idea to post a pic of your SR every time you post. There may be other changes you need to make as well, so read and consider each of the changes.

You can leave the group, NROTC, since you have a recruit and do not have a student in the NROTC program. Click on NROTC and after the page opens, click on "Leave Group" above the pictures of the Members.

Since your SR has a contract for Aviation Boatswain's Mate – Aircraft Handling (ABH), join AB - Moms, Sailors In Pensacola, FL For A School....Corry Station too!!, and Parents of A School Sailors in Pensacola. You may also want to check out Airman Family and Friends. The Rating Information Card for AB can be found at https://www.cool.navy.mil/enlisted/rating_info_cards/ab.pdf. Your Sailor will most likely fly out to "A" School the day after PIR. See PIR Day and Liberty During PIR Weekend to help you know how to plan your weekend.

Welcome to Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones). I look forward to sharing this journey with you. Be sure to check out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) for information on what to expect and to help you prepare for PIR. Start with OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) and Arrival and What Happens at the RTC and read 1 or 2 pages a day and then go back to them as you need the info. Take care and blessings to you and yours.
